Default Oh No! What's Wrong with My PS3?

Has anyone ever heard of anything going wrong with a Playstation 3 where the color periodically comes up blue- like, the picture is there but all the people and things are different shades of blue?
I'm not sure what could be wrong... when I restart the PS3 once or twice it turns back normal... I'm just not sure why this is happening!

Help!
Thanks!

What kind of connection are you using for video?

it's an HDMI connection

Besides the connection type, what tv do you have? If you are using HDMI have you tried disconnecting the HDMI cable and then reconnecting, while keeping the PS3 on?

Check your connections to make sure they're secure on both the PS3 and on your tv. I had this issue (shades of red), and it turns out the av-out connection was loose on the playstation. I was using components and not HDMI, though, give it a try. good luck.

you could be watching to much Blu.

but seriously, try using your composite video connection to see if you still experience the problem. if it works fine, then it has something to do with your hdmi cable, the hdmi input on your tv, or the hdmi out on the ps3. try using a different hdmi input and/or hdmi cable. still not working? hope your ps3 is under warranty.

There are only so many possibilities. Does it start up with this blue coloring or can everything be normal and then suddenly switch to blue?

Here are a few things to try: the next time it happen try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable. If it persists try a different HDMI input on the TV. If it is still there then it is most likely the cable or PS3. If you have a different HDMI cable try connecting that, by the way what type of HDMI cable are you using? I only ask as I have had problems with some cheaper cables, that used to be fine but then started causing strange problems.

Let us know the results and we will go from there.

What a coincidence that right after I read this, my PS3 craps on me.

I gotta send it out this week. And just before GTA4 too.

My disk drive just stopped working tonight. Not even 2 months old. I'm restoring the system in hopes that it works, but I'll probably be calling Sony tomorrow. =/

This happened to me, so with nothing in the drive, I held the eject button down for about 30 seconds and I haven't had any problems since. Give it a shot.

Please do not plug/unplug HDMI while equipment is on. HDMI has the potential to damage equipment if plugged/unplugged while they are working.

I've seem this problem a 1000 times with stand alone Blu-Ray players and DVD players with HDMI connections, its a problem with the PCB with the HDMI port on it 99% of the time.

My PS3 has done a couple of "flakey" things..... a couple times, I've turned it on, and the fan Runs LOUD and just keeps going, so I have to turn it off/on and it's better.

Another time I turned it on, and it was blank........ so I turned it off/on

Another time it came up with a Hard Drive error, and had to do a system restore.....

After all of this, (within the first 3 months or so) the Sony-Style store won't let me exchange it as long as it was working "now"

It had the Hard Drive failure on day #3 I believe!!!!

My other PS3 seems to work fine, but it gets less use (and I only own one game, and play it once a week, so I don't put a lot of time on my PS3, otherwise it might be dead by now! )

They've been around for quite awhile though..... so if it were that widespread, there would be tons of "anti-PS3" websites already created.....

The base is a lot bigger now and so you are bound to hear of more problems just because of the numbers (i.e. 1% of 3,000,000 versus of 500,000).

Mine has been running non-stop because of the folding since last year I bought it and has been perfect. Once I had to completely shut it down and it has been fine since.

First thing is to check the cable connections and if you have a spare pair of HDMI cables, try swapping it to see if the problem still exist. It helps isolate where the problem is.
