Default Why are people so stubborn???????

My dad's got a 50 inch SAMSUNG but refuses to hook up more than a DVD player to it, it took me a couple of years to convince him he needed a cable box with an HDMI output, i want him to uprade to BLU but he refuses to do it, I want to go as far as buy him one myself but I know he would never take it..........dick

hah, my dad is currently on the verge of upgrading. He keeps dropping me subtle little questions (like, Why would anyone buy anything but a PS3 for blu-rays). I think he's ready, but without surround sound (the house doesn't really permit it) I think that may be why he's holding back.

It's interesting how some folks do not have any interest in technology. Probably not a bad thing, but it is interesting.

LOL my parents have a 52" Bravia with full surround sound but they're not movie collectors so I doubt they'll be upgrading anytime soon.

Yeah technology is one of our common hobbies on this forum but it does not mean that everybody shares it. C'est la vie !

LOL a lot of people think any TV under 42" is not really HD. No idea on 19", never seen an LCD that small before...

My dad had an LG 36" 720 flat panel LCD in his living room for awhile with just a dvd player. After seeing my setup and after his kids buying him a Bluray player for father's day, he went out and bought a banging Sony 50" 1080p LCD and a home theater in the same week. To quote Heath Ledger's Joker, "All it takes is a little push."

If you had a BD laptop - get a copy of one of his fav movies on Blu-ray and show him what BD looks like compared to his DVD.

I did it to a neighbor.
Just showing computer screen caps to a friend convinced him to get Blu.

Once they see what Blu looks like on their display, they usually can't get enough!

I did this for my Dad and hooked my laptop up to his 720p Plasma. After explaining 1080p and Blu ray to him he went out and bought the Panny 800U Plasma and a blu ray player. Now he wants to borrow my movies so I just buy him a few that are on sale and let him keep them. I don't like lending out my movies.

So, by you not taking the message that he doesn't want to upgrade wouldn't that make you just as stubborn? lol. Chip of the ol' block.

When it comes to technology. I guess I'm one of the few people that CAN influence my parents. They don't get technology. If I say its better and give viable reasons and can prove it they go along with it. Thats how I got my parents away from dial-up and into DSL, they said they will never go back. MY dads like when I get home we have catching up to do (blu that is)
