Default Free advice from friendly forum vet?

I remember from another thread there are at least two vets lurking around here. When I got home from work today, as my dogs were running to greet me... my shar pei apparently stepped on something and got a nasty puncture wound between the pads of her feet. It was bleeding pretty heavy but some pressure stopped the bleeding fairly quickly. My wife is cleaning it up with saline solution as I type, and I know from my own experience it will be quite sore for a few days.

Would you recomend a trip to the vet for some prophylactic antibiotics? I can get a hold of some Rimadyl without going to the vet. Would you recomend the Rimadyl if for nothing else than to get her mind off of it for a few hours? She can be a serious drama queen when she gets hurt, so it's hard to tell how much is pain and how much is put on.
