Default A li'l Die Hard BD FYI:

http://www.amazon.com/Die-Hard-Colle...0472377&sr=1-2

^^ See this?

I had a friend of mine who does some movie reviewing and other odds and ends send me this email:

Quote:
Just received Fox's new DIE HARD box set, featuring single disc versions of DIE HARD 1, 2, 3 and a bonus disc of two documentaries plus a free ticket to LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD (aka DIE HARD 4 to the rest of the world).

Basically they could've called this STRIPPED DOWN.

There's no reason to buy this if you own the previous 2-disc sets -- the 1st discs are the same as the previous releases, and there are none of the extras from the Disc 2's of those sets here.

Havent checked out those 2 new doc's but unless they're Earth shattering I can't recommend this to any DIE HARD fan.

Sigh...where are the Blu Ray versions BTW?!?
Right?

Then he sends me a second email about two hours later with this:

Quote:
The documentary on the making of DIE HARD is actually pretty good (39 mins) and rounds up supporting guys like Reggie Veljohnson and William Atherton, plus McTiernan, Joel Silver, Hart Bochner (no Willis, Rickman, etc.). The other featurette interviews Renny Harlin (14 mins.) and talks about DIE HARD 2 and McTiernan talks about the third film -- though curiously only in old EPK footage (maybe he's rightly embarrased by the movie?).

Nice, but no great shakes, and not enough to recommend it still.

It does say COMING SOON TO BLU RAY at the end credits of the documentary at least.
Hopefully the whole Die Hard Quadrilogy and some other obvious Fox biggies make it out in time for the holidays. That would be wise and prudent methinks.

Anyways, there's some sort of "confirmation" that Die Hard BD's are "on the boards."

Actually the Third has a wonderful Reputation and is often considered better then the 2nd. Personally I don't care for the 2nd. But 1 and 3 are great.
I WILL buy these on Blu-Ray on release day.

Part three gets ragged on a little bit harshly. I find it mildly enjoyable myself, especially with the alternate ending that I felt they should have kept in the movie since it dovetailes nicely with the first film and just brings everything full circle, so to speak.

As the Beastie Boys say, I'm'a die harder than my man Bruce Willis. Hope they do a good job transferring 1 onto blu-ray...that's a pretty old movie already.

The first one I had on Laserdisc. Its the best and I really like the second one but number three is so so. Wife always puts that one on, maybe just seen it a time or two to many.

I actually thought it was good. Much better than the 2nd one. I heard that it was originally intended to be the script for Lethal Weapon 4. Works much better as a Die Hard movie.
