Default Problems buying a Previously viewed copy of The Dark Knight from Blockbuster

I have done a search on this puzzle but found nothing.

I brought a PV copy of The Dark Knight from Blockbuster. The cover says "Disc 1 includes...etc & Disc 2 includes.....etc".

When I get it home there is only 1 disc inside & there is only room for one disc, so whats going on here?. Anyone have any ideas?.

This is why I never buy used. I hear Blockbusters throws it's bonus discs away. You basically got the movie and thats it.

THEY CHANGED THE case to a one disc case and didnt sell you the digital copy disc or SF discs

Thats the disadvantage to buying a PVT

Very likely the case. Where I work we keep Digital Copies in a drawer, and put them back into the case when placing them in PV. But pretty much every other clerk except me never remember to do just that. Tell them you didn't get the 2nd disc, when I get these calls I check how many we have left and if there's more than the number in rentals and PV, then I know the customer's honest. Make sure they give you the digital copy code as well.

As for the case not having a space for a second disc, yeah, it might have been switched with another movie at some point.

Unless Warner does rental copies that don't include digital copies, but I doubt it. Only Lionsgate seems to do it sometimes (Rambo), and Fox will soon as well (they'll remove standard special features DVDs too).

EDIT: Just remembered The Dark Knight is 3 discs. Weird. Disc 2 was probably not brought back from a previous customer, and Blockbuster didn't realize it until it was too late to know which customer it was. I hate when that happens.

if you still have the receipt you can always take it back if not having the 2nd disc bothers you since the case they used advertised the 2 disc edition. a word to the wise: sometimes blockbuster's deals can be great but like you found out in this situation you may get something unexpected, whether that's good or bad. you should always feel free to ask the cashier to open the case before you leave to inspect everything and make sure you are satisfied. saves you a trip back to the store

Thats happened to me before. It seems like thats just the way they sell them used since you would only rent the movie disc.

Not true. When I rented Indiana Jones KOTCS, both discs were in the rental case.

I'd assume that going back to blockbuster is going to yield results over what anyone here is going to say. Seems that you bought the movie and you got the movie...it's a stretch, but you got what you paid for. Might have made sense to check the contents before you bought it, being that it's PV (used).

Just return it and say Disc 2 is missing. They will give you a refund or an exchange. I work for Blockbuster. So I'm not messing around. Blockbuster is ordered to destroy Digital Copy discs, but Dark Knight was a 3 disc set. Therefore, you should get Disc 1 of the film, and Disc 2 (Special Features)....chances are the disc was lost or misplaced by a customer, and they just put it out previously viewed without the 2nd disc.
It is not Blockbuster's policy to destroy discs with Bonus content...only Digital copy discs.

Default Puzzle solved

So OK I went back to Blockbuster & here is what I was told, straight from the managers mouth.

-They do indeed destroy all digital copy discs.
-They do not destroy "extras" discs.
-They had a bunch of single disc versions of "The Dark Knight" come in for
rental & someone had inadvertently put the copy I picked up in the wrong
cover.
-They seem to be getting a lot more single disc rental versions these days,
which are not available to the general public for purchase.
I left the manager taking down & going through all the other copies of "The Dark Knight".

So I swopped it for a copy of "Apaloosa", & I will have to buy TDN somewhere else.

Thanks for all the replies,
Peter (In Burlington, Ont.)

I just realized you are in Canada. The canadian Blockbusters do get single disc versions of many Blu-ray titles from WB, so that makes sense. Sorry man!
