PS3 DVD Upconversion - Blu-ray Forum

Im just wondering how good of a job the PS3 does in upscaling Standard DVDs. I love the PQ of my Samsung 1200... but due to the constant firmware issues with it (more specifically, their inability to issue firmware fixes) I am considering picking up a PS3. So... how is the PQ with standard DVDs on this?

I think the PS3 does a great job of upconverting DVDs.

It does a great job.

I have a Panasonic up-converting DVD player that I left hooked up to play DVD's, intending to use my PS3 for Blu-rays and games only, but the PS3 does such a better job of upconversion that I haven't turned the Pani on since I tried the PS3.

to be honest, my Japanese PS3 did a very great job, but UK PS3? I can't enjoy upconversion due to the needs of use HDMI cable (the Japanese version does not requires one)
