Now I'm hoping Criterion will soon release Brazil, The Naked Lunch, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums on blu ray, along with the rest of Kurosawa's films.

Ha I hear ya, Criterion's going so slow on Blu I might be 90 before they get the Kurosawa's out!

(and that's just the few titles they've put out on DVD. Ok well there's around 17, but out of, what, 32, they're only halfway done!)
Freaking sweet Ran is the first of the Master's work they're putting out though. I'll be pre-ordering ASAP. Definately one of my favorite Criterion DVDs!

They released it on DVD back in 2003, but I'm not sure if they still have the rights.

Way to go Criterion, keep crankin' them out. DVDbeaver has a comparison of the latest blu import, and it doesn't look good. The Criterion DVD transfer looked far better! Having just watched the standard DVD that upconverted quite well a few months ago, I am certain this will be a top notch release.
