Full array just means there is a full array of LEDs across the entire backlight. You're confusing local dimming zones, methinks.

it helps, a fair bit in some cases, but it's still not the same it's still an array of backlights not even remotely close to per pixel so it doesn't really give the same look in the end. So I mean, yes, you CAN get 100% inky blacks, but with a lot of various constraints.

it IS local dimming, just better since it's better controlled and there are usually many more zones (although the term can be stretched and abused)

The Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner music doesn't fit, but I like Desolation Path, which plays instead of Love Theme. It's more dreamy and sci-fi, whereas Love Theme is more sultry and romantic.

The problem with FALD is that you also get blooming, haloing etc. Even if you have a couple of hundred dimming zones, it’s nowhere near the 3840x2160 = 8294400 ”zones” you get on a 4K OLED TV with direct emission pixels.

Another drawback with LCD is the poor viewing angles. To which extent you are affected by this depends on seating position.

The benefit of FALD LCD is higher max brightness though (which sometimes cannot be used to full extent, if nearby pixels should be dark). Also, no risk of burn-in, which is good if you’re a gamer, or watch CNN all day.

So I guess we all have to pick our candy and poison, no display tech is optimal in every aspect currently. But at least for me OLED is the clear overall winner.
