I get deep, inky blacks on my 75940C full array local dimming LED. Not all LED are built the same.

Full array is a marketing term. It means virtually nada. Now obviously you see what you see and I respect that. Just don’t try to convince me that your or any LCD has inky blacks.

Not saying LCD/LED has inky blacks but this statement is plain and simply factually wrong.

Now you're free to argue FALD doesn't match "inky" blacks of OLED, but only embarrass yourself by calling it a "marketing term". It's a display system that uses LED arranged in zones to adjust and create contrast depending on the scene. There certainly are marketing terms used to describe FALD panels from other LED tech like edge lighting, but I assure you that with my 940C, my screen is black where it is supposed to be. Whether it's areas of space between stars in "Gravity" or the night sky around a street light, Sony engineered it's flagships to deliver blacks and contrast like no other LED panel has ever done before. Incidentally, Blade Runner & 2049 UHDs look stunning on my 75-inch (including the latter when viewed in 3D).

By law I must deploy the following post whenever people chat shit about FALD LCD:

Yes, there is a TV in that picture somewhere.

Jimbos head would explode if he knew I put my OLED on casual viewing duty.

That thought warms my soul this Christmas.

Absolute nonsense to say LED-LCD can't do deep inky blacks.

Ex-owner of 2 lovely Panasonic DX902 FALD LED-LCD TVs and a current owner of a Panasonic 65GZ1000 OLED.

Apparently no one can convince you of anything Jimbo (a lot of us have gotten used to that over the last four years), but my value-priced Vizio produces amazing inky blacks!

Yeah man, Sony kills it with their panels. I didn't know how well until recently.

BTW, has anyone ever thought about how fun backwards Jim must be at cocktail parties? I would love to hear his thoughts on the h'ordourves and guest list!

Created by the LaserDisc Association of America to bolster sales, of course. It nearly worked, too. I almost picked up a copy of Tenet on LD.

Well, there's the answer on why you think the ALIEN UHD looks terrible.

You have a crappy display.

It's good as it has HDR10+ that is why he can't see how good it is.

If you take 10 full array TVs, you’ll notice that they all have a different amount of arrays. Some have so few, that it becomes pointless. In other words, it’s a marketing term.
