I think the largest CRT I ever had was a Phillips/Magnavox that mom and dad got me when I moved to attend college at MTSU. I still recall going to Walmart and getting it. I recall dad and I carrying that heavy SOB upstairs to the loft apartment my cousin and I shared at the time. Heaviest TV I ever owned. It took at least 2 people to move it safely. Years later, it was replaced with my first LCD. A 32" Sony Bravia 720p with the early CCFL backlight. My younger daughter still uses that set, in fact. I can still remember how surprised I was after we team lifted the 26" CRT off the TV stand and then I picked up the 32" Sony by myself. It was like a comedy skit where the guy is ready to heave with all his might, and throws the damn thing through a window, lol.

We upgraded my mom's TV not too long ago. It was a 27" hulking monster CRT TV. I'm pretty strong guy but while moving it 2 rooms I had to frequently put it down and readjust my grip. When I pulled the new 32" Flat Screen out of the box I could almost lift it one handed. My back thanks whoever came up with LED technology.

I first saw Blade Runner on a similar TV, but this was the mid 2000s, about a year before the Final Cut was announced. I rented the DC from the library because I had constantly heard about it and wanted to check it out. Needless to say I loved it. I've owned it on DVD, Blu-ray, and now 4K, which is big for me. I was born in 1985 and didn't start collecting until the 2000s.

Just received the UK edition (ASIN: B075ZGW18B) in the mail today and was wondering if anyone could clarify whether the included regular blu-ray is from the new scan. I tried to search this thread but couldn't seem to find a definitive answer. I know the US edition included the old blu-ray, but was hoping the UK might have the new one.

There is no "new scan". The "Final Cut" was based on a 4K DI back in 2007 and said DI was used as the basis for the original Blu-ray and the 4K UHD.

While we're talking about big old TV's, my first HD set was a 34" 16:9 1080i CRT from Philips. It stuck out a good 2 feet in the back and must've weighed 200 lbs. I'm surprised it didn't break my TV stand.

In contrast, I currently own a 32" 720p TCL set that I call the "toy tv." It's so light it feels like one of those mock TV's they have at IKEA.

I once owned a 32 inch Phillips wide screen CRT tv. It weighted a tonne but it wasn’t necessarily the weight of it, it was the fact that when you tried to lift it it wanted to topple forward as if the weight was all near the screen and it was a bugger to get a grip of. The picture quality was awesome on it.

Gave it to my parents eventually when I upgraded and then eventually it was traded in against a flat screen at John Lewis.

One of the best tv’s I ever owned. Blade runner looked good on it!

Chariots of Fire was my introduction to Vangelis as well. We had an LP of various movie and TV themes like The Godfather, The Deer Hunter and Doctor Zhivago, and Chariots of Fire was one of my favorites. I'm glad I got to know it as an innocent kid without the baggage of all the various parodies.

Yeah, mine had some problems like bad vertical geometry and it had waaaay too much overscan, but the PQ was stellar. DVD's looked amazing on it in a way that you can't replicate on a modern screen. I replaced it with my first real big screen, which was a Samsung 61" LED DLP, and while I was impressed by it just from the size, it took me a while to get used to the whole backlit screen look with it's lit-up grey blacks. Probably why I like my OLED so much, it's the first time I've seen the pure-blacks in years since my last CRT.

You should never try to move or lift a CRT TV by yourself because they're heavy. I used to have a 34" in my bedroom years ago, and it literally took four people ( and could've used a fifth) to move it to the garage when I bought my first plasma. I know one thing a person didn't have to worry about anybody stealing a CRT TV out of your home by themselves because it's going to take three or four people to walk out with it.

Would that be the 14" or the 20"?

How about the D24? There isn’t an LCD/LED TV at any size or price that I would take over a D24. Only an OLED can beat it.

Yeah CRTs were beast heavy for a given size.

CCFL LCD were wayyyyyy lighter per size, but once you got to 50" could be pretty heavy and awkward.

LED backlit LCD seem to be the lightest, even a 55" doesn't weigh much and they are pretty easy to transport and move around

OLED turned out to be surprisingly heavy, weigh a ton compared LED backlit LCD and I feel noticeably more than even CCFL LCD and can be very tippy and awkward with few good grip areas. When I saw how thin I was like man awesome! This will be like paper compared to even my LED LCD. But not so much at all.

Getting back to CRT, best one I had was my Mitsubishi Diamondscan Black Screen, reallly deep blacks and great contrast. Only my OLED brought me back to really deep blacks.

That’s the only thing good about LCD/LED. It’s easy to move them to the garbage.

I have to say I am loving my OLED and getting the rich blacks of my old CRT Diamonscan Black days.
