Found a fun breakdown of the STAR TOURS re-invention over at MiceAge.com.

Here's a spoiler-ific snip:

[Show spoiler]Part 1: Your Starspeeder begins to depart the spaceport as R2D2 is trying to override the autopilot, but you are suddenly stopped by either Darth Vader or a battalion of Stormtroopers who are looking for a Rebel Spy suspected to be onboard your ship. The video screen in the cabin displays the image of one of your fellow passengers and sets up the base plot that they are the spy that must be smuggled away from the Empire’s bad guys.

I'd feel bad about copying and pasting the rest from the site, so you can check out the rest here:

It looks like we agree on a lot!

I agree that the online petitions don't work. It was one of those deals where I figured won't likely help/can't hurt.

Oh, I know that. Back in '06, I was hoping for an anamorphic DVD, not something from a 4:3 source.

Of course, considering what we got, I'd rather have the option to zoom myself instead of getting a "pre-zoomed" picture.

Here's a video of the George Lucas main event in florida when the Bluray was first announced. I didn't post the entire video because I wanted to hear lucas talk about the bluray and not just tape the whole thing...but I got more somewhere

I apologize if this has been asked ( I tried finding it but theres a ton of pages on this). Is there actually an ultimate box set? It has the most votes, but all I see for preorder is either the whole set or the separate trilogy sets.

No, that's just hypothetical, it doesn't exist. You do get an extra bonus blu-ray disc if you get the complete saga though.

Ultimate set? Hmmm. I don't think we will ever get the ultimate star wars set. its a changing medium.

You actually get three bonus blu-ray discs if you purchase the Saga set, 9 discs in total. The two separate releases contain no bonus discs at all, just 3 movie discs.

Each trilogy release includes four discs (three films, one extras) and the saga release includes a third extras disc.

Unfortunately, no such set exists. I don't think you'll ever see a true Ultimate set. If they sold one with everything, they wouldn't have anything to sell you the next time around.

He'll always leave something off. That way, it gives people a reason to purchase the same movies over and over again. He's a businessman and from GL's perspective and a business perspective, it's smart to keep milking your cash cow. For us, I think it just feeds the addiction and keeps people coming back for more and more. I don't like it but I understand it. I don't like it but I've got every single VHS, LD, and DVD Star Wars release ever put out. What does that say about me?

Well, I was just so impressed that someone on this forum actually admitted to doing something positive and productive, instead of retreading the same stuff all over again. I was getting so sick of hearing all the "love/hate" banter, constantly going back and forth, with no end in sight. Your post was a much-needed relief, so thank you.

The only thing we seem to disagree on is your view of Lucas' decision to avoid releasing the UOT. Personally, I get both sides of the argument, but from a personal and business standpoint, I also understand his reasons for doing things the way he is. Maybe someday - and this is a big "maybe" - Lucas will (eventually) change his stance on the issue...but until that time, I honestly wouldn't hold my breath.

Fox Executive Discusses Blu-ray Plans

Quote:
Star Wars: Original Trilogy and Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy will consist of four discs each – one for each movie and one bonus disc. Star Wars: The Complete Saga will have an additional special features disc, for a total of nine.

You're right. It's nice to see someone else with my perspective on it as well and thank you for the kind words. I've been following Star Wars threads for years and the argument and fighting over the issue does get old. It's not productive and it's not going to change GL's mind.

I'm not holding my breath on him changing his mind either. It's just not worth the stress to tell you the truth.

If people want to discuss Star Wars online, there's so much else to discuss rather than just his refusal to release them. I agree with the people that want it released and I strongly dislike GL's reasoning but what good does it do to fight over it in threads that he'll never read? I think the methods that I've tried are the only thing an individual fan/consumer can do, other than someone organizing the mass email, letter, and call idea I mentioned. Whether that would have any influence, I truly don't know but I doubt it. It's at least more productive than online fighting.

On the Jabba the hutt scene...the one in ANH. I liked the first one and the second one...yes, the first one looks odd now, but back then when I saw it at the movies in 96 it looked great...now, not so much..

I was one of those fans that wanted the Jabba scene in ANH because it fits in with the cantina scene where greedo talks about him. And adding boba fett to it was also incredible...now, how could Lucas add Jabba the puppet in there if if no longer exists? the only way to do it was digital. I think the jabba puppet is around, but in very bad shape. I saw it in 1994 at the museum in san francisco.

I think the second Jabba looks good...but it could be better...Han solo still walks around Jabba in the original footage where he is human...so he has to step up around Jabba's tail because it's huge!! but he could just have jumped to the other side. Or they could just have jabba be on his other side and no tail jump at all. That could be fixed I suppose...

the next scene I want to see IN THE FILM is the toshe station.

Yeah, or just not put in the movie since it's redundant anyway . It destroys the pacing, the CGI looks awful, you don't get the feeling Han is in the same space as Jabba, and the information in it is redundant. Tell me why we need this scene again?

As i've mentioned before..

1. This scene shows that Han is a smuggler/talker business man. He says, "You didn't think I was gonna run did ya?". And "Look Jabba next time you want to talk to me come see me yourself, don't send one of these ****".

2. It shows that he bargains good. "15 jabba don't push it"

3. That Han is not afraid of jabba and that they are good friends.

4. And that he has a great sense of humor.

5. shows you all the different crew that Jabba has with him, that I assume brought in a sand speeder as we see in ROTJ.

6. it connects ANH and ROTJ greatly.

I love it!!!!
