Hey, wow...it's been at least a week since this question last came up.

The answer then was no. The answer now is no.

This is the part where you tell me there's no need to be a jerk about it, but I think we should just skip to the part where I tell you this forum has a search feature for a reason.

Take it easy on 'em... i look up starwars on bluray at least once a week to see if there is any news about a release date...

patience... the wait will be worth it (as long as they take their time with the audio/video quality and include both original AND special editions of the original trilogy). And possibly finish those prequel trilogy special editions that have been rumoured also.

Well Lucas has stated, and i quote, that he has no future plans of Stars Wars being in HD.

Maybe someday he'll change his mind, but I don't feel it will be anytime soon.

It will be a midnight release on July 13th 2011. I have it on great sources that this is an accurate date.

yeah, he better have the original versions all cleaned up with awesome audio.

if he pulls that crap like he pulled when he released the altered versions of the Trilogy, but didn't release the Unaltered versions, im gonna be pissed.

we should be able to get the originals enhanced to HD with high quality audio, but without those stupid altered scenes where he adds stuff or changes what a character is doing.

I dont know why he thought he had to go in and mess with stuff, I about bugged out when I saw it and was like "I dont remember seeing that in the originals."

I read in an interview the other day that he wants to do the 3-D thing, but the equipment is verrry expensive, so they're trying to find a practical way to do it.

side note, I saw in your sig that you can't wait for "Star Wars I-VII" on blu... Is there 7 movies? I don't know a whole lot about the Star Wars franchise but I always thought there was 6

Maybe he meant Clone Wars? It's rather sad that the first Star Wars movie on Blu is the CG Clone Wars, and no sign of the Original Trilogy.

But I guess this is history repeating itself, since for years the only Star Wars we had on DVD was Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones until the original trilogy finally came out in '04 (albeit the new Special Edition versions).

So, going by this I guess we'll probably have the prequels on Blu-ray within 2 years or so (maybe for the 10th anniversary of TFM next year), then the Special Editions of the original trilogy around the 35th anniversary in 2012.

Then, maybe, hopefully, we'll have the original theatrical versions of the Trilogy on Blu sometime before 2020.

Unless Lucas dies sometime before then.

Then again, his revisionist bullsh*t policy regarding the original versions would probably mean that he takes any high-resolution copies of them to his grave...

He will assign a release date but only when the market share with BR is bigger. Why release them all now and sell however many millions worth when he can hold back until more and more adopted the BR format and then sell alot more.... George Lucas is just waiting for his time to cash in.

Yup, George is a creative genius and a shrewd businessman. When he can maximize the profit and ensure that the project will be fresh and appeal to a wide audience, then he'll do it.
