You knew Lucas was going to at least attempt to replace Yoda in the Original Trilogy. But, the rotoscope work that had to be done to pull that off, I knew would be too challenging.

And, those cooler heads that Bill Hunt was talking about, I'm sure one of them was Rob Coleman. He's pretty dogmatic about the puppet in the Original Trilogy.

I find it more interesting his reasoning for why the Unaltered versions will come to HD. It happened on DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens on Blu. They just probably won't go the extra mile to clean up mattes and sabers. Maybe do something like not offering HD audio. Who knows?
Yep. It'll happen.

Ah, the memories: that was the first SW set I bought with my very first credit card back in '93...setting a pattern of building debt buying every subsequent LD release from the DT onward, every DVD release, and now the BD Complete Saga. Can't break my streak; it might improve my credit rating.

sounds like he actually did a little homework here but doubt he had time to watch and listen to every disc and the extras...still it's a pretty good review and some screenshots would have been nice

George wins again..dammit!

Pre-ordered mine via Amazon and it's on the UPS truck for delivery. It usually shows up around 10:30 am or so.

Can't wait!

Now, let's get the first three Indiana Jones released on Blu-Ray with NO digital enhancements! I'm hoping Spielberg learned his lesson when he digitally removed the guns from E.T.

lol

Sounds like we were in almost the same boat when it comes to the '92 set. I was 19 when I got it and right around the time of my first credit card too. Less than a year later, while money was tight in college, I still sprung for the DC LD set.

The Barnes & Noble trial membership is working really well so far .... 30% off for members with (MC) Expedited Shipping = $65.90 for the set, plus 5% cash back from Master Card ...

Can't wait for Padme in 1080p .. the Force is Hot with this one ....

OK, I got my set yesterday, and decided that I would offer another idiot's opinion of the set . Ok , first off, my LG player (latest firmware) had some issues with the extras disc. The first thing I wanted to watch were the OT deleted scenes, and the transitional videos after you select a planet would not play properly on my LG - they would start fine, then the video would stop and the sound would cut out. When the video started up again, it was playing too fast. Eventually the sound came back and everything came back to normal. I saw that someone else had this problem with a Samsung player. It all played perfectly on my Panasonic, and the actual deleted scenes played fine on the LG - just the transitional videos were messed up.

OK, now onto my opinions of the set - I have only watched Episode IV, but I was very impressed with how good it looked. I would have been happier with a new 4k transfer, but all in all, the video quality is good, and the sound is excellent. My main bone of contention with the set (keep in mind, this is only based on watching 1 film, but I believe it is a safe assessment to make) is that it was put together in such a half-a$$ed way. First off, no matter what any of the defenders say, a new transfer for the OT should have been made. They did the best they could (picture qualtiy wise - not effects wise) with what they had, but this should have been better. Secondly, and this is what really bothers me, they should have at least fixed the glaring errors consistently. If they had just fixed/re-done the lightsabers in the OT, I think most of the complaints would have gone away. They had 7 years and nearly unlimited resources to do what fan editors do in their homes in weeks. Also, the new tweeks weren't even done consistently. R2 is behind rocks....now he's out, and the rocks are gone. The hatch of the escape pod is gray....until the Stormtroopers find the droid part, then it is blue again. This is just sloppy, and there is absolutely no excuse for it. These are iconic American films, and they deserve to be treated as such. End of rant.

They play on my other one and my PC. Firmware is up to date. It's a panasonic blu ray player. Could it be the discs? I was thinking of swapping them out at the store with a new set, but somehow I don't think it's the discs since they work on other players. Suggestions?
Anyone else have this sort of issue yet?

Target exclusive. Much larger than I was expecting. They are on a pretty nice stock paper.

So I got the complete set for $79, I got a many lightsaber pointer (value $30) a booklet with pictures (value I have no idea) and I won the Darth Vader lightsaber (valu must be $100)

A pretty good morning, the Sun is out and I am not going to sit back and enjoy the Blu-ray. I will come back a little later to share what I think of the set.

May the Force be with us all!
