Just watched the set for the 4th time. Ep.3 still amazes me with it's PQ.

Sith does look stunning, yeah. It's pretty much one of the best-looking movies in my collection, let alone the best-looking SW flick.

I think he had the vague outline but not the specific plot points. I can buy into the idea that Vader and Anakin were originally separate characters but there's also clearly something in Obi-wan's reaction when Luke asks that definitely screams future plot thread.

Nope.

Being a Star Wars thread a more appropriate Ralph Wiggum line would have been:

"Awww! I bent my wookie!"

im kinda thinking on how Alec Guinness is doing the best act of Obi Wan in episode IV when he quotes " I dont seem to recall ever owning a droid " lol when he even have good relationship with r2-d2 in clone wars even in ROTS. His facial expression just matches the whole story wise, where he is like hiding it from Luke owning a droid before. Alec Guinness is just brilliant as ever. And seriously all of the actors here in this movie just doing the job reading their scripts act with it and Lucas didn't even have the whole episode 1 - 3 story lines at that time. He cares bout the success of his first Star Wars. I guess its not even called episode IV at that time.
You are reading what you know from the other Star Wars films into Guinness' line readings. This is similar to a classic example of how film editing works. There was an experiment done over 50 years ago where close-ups of people with particular expressions were cut into various scenes that they were supposedly reacting to. Viewers assigned emotions to the actors, but those emotions varied depending upon what was cut in. So the exact same expression on an actor's face was perceived as being "scared" if it was cut into a scene with something scary, "amused" if it was cut into a scene that was comic, etc. Context is everything. So when we now watch the OT, we interpret everything in terms of what we now know is in the PT. Sometimes that makes the OT better and sometimes that makes the OT worse, primarily because of the inconsistencies.

The fact is that most of the inconsistencies between the PT and the OT could have (obviously) been avoided. Lucas was either sloppy with the story or stupidly thought that people wouldn't notice or care. One of the big ones for me is when Leia says in EP VI that she remembers her mother. Lucas could have written around that in the PT by having Padame live for a year or two after the kids are born. She could have gone into hiding, just making Vader think she was dead. And there are tons of others which have been discussed here ad nauseum.

It was the Kuleshov Effect and it was done almost 100 years ago. Tempus fugit.

Great examples are Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, where Steve Martin interacts with actors from the 40's and 50's to wonderful comic effect.

Oddly I almost see Stormtroopers having this effect on us viewers. Even though their faces never change we often assign different emotions to them (it might go under anthropomorphism though), for example when the Stormtrooper clonks in head in A New Hope he looks completely stunned.

Finally got my set for Christmas tonight, but my parents ordered it from Deep Discount, so you know what kind of condition its in. Now I have to do the old switcheroo at Best Buy for one with much less dings and dents..

It's not the whole special, just the Boba Fett cartoon. On the second bonus disc, explore under "Pursued by the Imperial Fleet", then go to "The Collection" and the Boba Fett prototype armor.
