It's not remaking, it's paralleling.

Your comment to me is not only way out of line, it also isn't accurate. You took one quote out of context and reacted accordingly.

A director's job is to direct the work force not to tell an actor how to act.

If an actor doesn't know the material they should either ask for clarification or walk, instead of crying that "I didn't sign up for this".

A good actor doing their job should be able to handle less than ideal lines if they have any talent.

Your claims that the rewrites were somehow an exception to history or that Lucas gave on the fly direction are simply false compared to what has been demonstrated through testimonials and basic film knowledge.

Dune I feel is an imaginative masterpiece, and this is a prime example of having scruples with your job as opposed to catering to what sycophants want.

In many ways, you can see a connection between how Lucas was treated by the studio and David Lynch who was not stranger to this either.

When you're thrown into this day after day, year after year there's really a limit to what an actor can accomplish by sheer talent:

I think the only limit is the actor. I use the Actor's Studio as an example. I remember hearing the Babelonia Al Pacino interview where he would talk about actor's being on a blank stage and had to imagine what was going on.

Lucas was not much on telling actors how to act, but he did like explaining the things he was interested in, which was his fantasy world.

I think a lot of the issues were people just looking at a paycheck, rather than serving the story.

I am sure it is tough to not have all the props you want or to not have the backgrounds spoon fed to you. That said, a real actor doesn't need such things. If you have your imagination, the BEST have overcome the supposed obstacles.

Yep, then near the end we'll find out Rey and Finn are siblings....

Which is the paycheck mentality.

I have heard the interviews, and there is no question that he was not giving it its all.

Being an actor, is understanding the role and understanding the mechanics. Whatever it takes to fit that role, than so be it.

Of course Ewan almost tried heroin for Trainspotting..that is a little too hardcore, so maybe not whatever it takes.

That's extremely misleading. Just like this is:

Plenty of sets were built for the PT.

The PT now seems to have as much blue/green screen as your average Marvel film these days.

I guess that's a deleted part of the scene with Han and Lando in the hangar (where the background with the Falcon is an obvious matte painting). PeterTHX is just trying to justify his beloved prequels, as usual.

OK. They still had a really shitty director, something that even the OT stars complained about when they had to deal with him. No amount of pictures will change that fact. He's awful with actors. And when you have awful dialogue and an awful director and actors who aren't at the top of their game, you've got a recipe for disaster.
