Hey guys, should we try to make the number of pages of this forum exactly 1138 on release day?

We'd have to take our 'talking crap' quotient and expand it exponentially. So I guess this ones on me.

The reviews and screenshots are gonna start coming in soon so I guess we have to worry about NOT crossing 1138

You shouldn't have to "make do" with Star wars.
Its not the packaging, but the process employed to package the discs at the factory. Slick cardboard can not in anyway scratch a blu-ray. Any scratches on the discs before opening are the result of a manufacturing problem and can be exchanged. I have slid my discs in and out of the Alien packaging countless times and have not received any scratch. Heck, I've tried to scratch Alien Resurrection with the packaging and can't. If a scratch does occur after its been opended it is a result of grit and dust that accumulates on the cardboard, but seeing as that would take a pretty serious piece of grit one would have to argue that the packaging and discs weren't being taken care of which I don't think is the case here. If your discs were scratched already when you opened them you could have returned it and I am willing to bet the next set wouldn't be scratched and would probably never receive a scratch from the packaging.

The packaging is being used as a scapegoat here. There is no proof that the packaging is scratching the discs. The design might be leading to circumstances arising that leads to scratches, but the cardboard itself isn't doing the scratching.

Has anyone seen the iPhone app yet?

A friend told me that there is the shot of the crossed lightsabers of ROTS, and it's fixed!!!! Did anyone see that??

I wonder why nobody has mentioned it.

Probably, because only negative news find a place in here"

But he likely meant ROTJ. In any case who knows what they were talking about because apparently the only shot of sabers crossed in the app are from A New Hope.
Oh, my bad. Sorry about that. Yeah, of course I meant ROTJ.

Apparently my friend saw sth. else then.

I haven't seen it myself, so I was just wondering about the validity of that statement. Again, sorry for the confusion.

I hope that menu design on the app is the design for each of the 6 films and extras when you pop in the blu-ray discs and is on the discs. The menus for the dvd's where great and hopefully the menus for the blu-rays will be just as great even better.

Do we know when the next official announcement might be? I'd love to hear more about the video transfer. IIRC, leading up to the 2004 release there were rumors and leaks about the changes made, but nothing was "official" until the discs came out.

I sincerely want these discs to be the best quality possible. It's just that we've been burned in the past. There's evidence for people to believe the PQ will be spotless and there's evidence for people to believe that problems from 2004 will carry over.

I've remained skeptical because I don't want to get my hopes up too much. Sorry if I seem like a hater or cynic. I just think that a healthy combination of optimism and skepticism is best. One extreme or the other leads to disappointment in any realm of life.

i think they should just tell us what has been done to all of the film, instead of telling us that films will look great,

Exactly.

Usually the companies love to share technical specs with consumers to excite them.

With such a big release as Star Wars they don't need to excite people with technical specs because, well, it's Star Wars.

Hope we get something, though.

Yeah, was considering that one too. I love it when Luke puts the helmet back on

Btw, awesome HT setup, atexp80. Love the lighting. Although I think you should move your clock. No need to worry about what time it is when watching a movie

Thanks for letting us know that because there are many of us who didn't want the discs to be the best quality possible. Your brilliant persuasive skills has changed our minds. We now want them to be the best quality possible.
