Seems like there are some people trying to find something -- anything -- wrong with the BDs. I don't get it.

If you're trying to find 1 thing wrong with the set so you don't have to buy it, don't buy it.

I'm thinking maybe the video itself is in SD. It is not necessarily a clip from the movie is it? Maybe it's just part of the feature. I guess we still don't know .

Hmm, ya know on those old 'Original Trilogy' transfers, Vader's ligthsaber is red. Sorta like the engines to the X-Wings... LOL

I can sum it up in 1 word FEAR. Fear that this set might actually be the best.
That's how it is around here-sadly. I for one can't wait for the BDs.

I think you're right about the fear, but wrong about the reason. Everyone wants the best. We're afraid they're not doing enough to fix the problems of the past and make it the best.

As long as we're fixing it, let's be honest

The history of Star Wars releases has been long, and at times, quite controversial. We must hope for the best, but all we can do is walk towards this blu-ray release with a clear and open mind, and hope they've done an excellent job, because what will be, will be, for better or worse, I am leaning towards better myself, but we'll see.

Having the OT in HD but with the same color-timing issues would pretty much undermine the entire point of the visual quality of the films. And of course, we all buy Blu-Ray for the picture and audio quality, so to have something about the picture and audio that bugs you wouldn't seem like it was worthwhile to pay for (especially when you're dealing with films people already own in various previous versions).

So the colors have been altered for TPM. I wonder if they were altered for the OT.

Since the DVD was struck from the transfer used for the LD and VHS, the BRD is likely more accurate, as we've seen countless examples over the years of 90's and early 2000 transfers drowning in blacks.

Look at the new detail revealed in the BR version.

I wish there could be a mix of both. I always liked the "glow"

not surprised that changes were made to TPM- as it was the most dated of all 6 films digital transfers-

Although there could be, i wouldn't expect many changes from ep2 and 3 because of their original digital format-
