I've been waiting over 20 years to watch an official anamorphic widescreen version of this movie, let alone one in HD. The Abyss looks pretty darn satisfactory in my humble opinion. I'm still in disbelief this has finally been released despite the flaws.

True Lies looks worse as far as DNR goes. But I have yet to watch both movies' transfers in full.

Overall, I'm still grateful.

As am I. As I indicated a few pages ago, if Abyss looked ANYTHING as egregious as that new True Lies transfer, I’d be singing a different tune.

No description says 35mm 4K film scan and the video was posted earlier by someone else. Abyss was just not teal like the new revisionist 4k transfer.

Trailers don't always have the final color timings.

Reminds me of why I stopped posting here this place can get way too hostile over different points of view and it's no secret that Cameron likes to revise his movies and add some teal to them I don't know why people are getting so angry trying to deny this. I have better things to do.

Beeeecaaaause I used to own The Abyss on 35mm (pre-DVD days) and your statements about teal are incorrect.

How about a new approach: the Laser Disc transfer was "supervised by James Cameron" so should the color grade on the new 4K edition match the Laser Disc?
