I preparing for a new wave of this in the comments of the April releases post. In some previous cases, the bile got so bad from users complaining about "Criterion going woke" for instance, they had to turn off the comments for the post.

Sorry, I came off the "Criterion releases with DNR" thread and I just can't stand the idea that so many stunning releases I have by them would supposedly use DNR and look "wrong" instead of beautiful.
Ummm, for having such a problem with the word woke you certainly seem to bring it up a lot.

Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits mentioned in his newsletter yesterday that he’s heard Criterion is working on a restoration of Thelma & Louise. Haven’t heard that title come up as rumored before now. Should make for an interesting release. Would be the first Ridley Scott film in the collection.

I'd love a release of this. Scott technically was in the collection back in the laserdisc days. Blade Runner was the first Criterion I ever bought.

I could see that. It's with MGM and they license everything except Rocky & Bond films. Knowing Scott, it's probably a 4K UHD release as he seems to be a big proponent of the format.

I'd love for Criterion to release a UHD of Thelma & Louise. I sort of assumed this would eventually come from Kino but either way this needs a new remaster. It's been like 12 years since the original BD came out from MGM. Great film too, one of Scott's best.

I find that all of the reviewers have head-scratching opinions about film. I pretty much bypass criticisms and purchase the title if it something I must own.

I'd also love for "The Duellists" to be released on Criterion.

Even though I already have it in multiple forms. VHS, DVD, the Shout Factory OOP BD, and the Imprint BD.

I've always thought it a good fit for Criterion.

If they put out "Thelma and Louise", also, then we'd have both of Scott and Keitel's collaborations in Criterion.

If we finally get Heroic Trio/Executioners, that would be great. Even better would be Eastern Condors. Even better than that? Samurai Rebellion. I'm expecting none of them to be announced.

There used to be like 1 Japanese release every month or so. I haven't seen many lately, unfortunately. But I'm sure you've noticed this too.

I would love Criterion to release a 4K of Kore-eda Hirokazu’s Maborosi (1995), my favorite of his films! I’d take a 4K of Melville’s Le Samourai as well!

There's already a release of Maborosi:

-

so chances of a CC release are slim to none.
