I’d love to see Criterion release The 25th Hour by Spike Lee. The Bedroom Window is also on my wish list.

The BFI release was encoded by David Mackenzie / FiM.

Didn't the BFI use their own materials for Nosferatu? Maybe they did for a few other titles too.

Piggybacking off of this from someone still new to the collecting game - does Criterion hold the rights to most or all of Spike's earlier stuff? I've been looking for He Got Game on blu-ray and there's an expensive "double-feature" available with the 25th Hour on the secondary market but I guess there is no standard release? I ended up getting the DVD from Amazon but was disappointed there wasn't something better. Thanks!

Both films are with Disney, so it's unlikely Criterion could license them. Though if there is a label that could, it would probably be them.

Those 2 films are stuck with Disney. Kino released 5 Spike Lee films.

Anyway, I finally watched After Hours for the first time last weekend after reading all of the posts on here about it over the last several years. My short review is that it was one of the greatest film watching experiences I've ever had. I was hooked from beginning to end and had no idea what would happen next. I get it now guys.

[Show spoiler]Putting this in spoiler tags because my following statement indicates that Paul survives his crazy night in Soho...I think I'll go read Tropic of Cancer and wonder what a sequel to this film would be like. I suppose a sequel is completely unnecessary, but I can't help but wonder what Paul's future held and what are those wacky people up to in Soho now.

Martin Scorsese has an interestingly diverse filmography to me. I find value in all of his films that I have watched so far. Although, I prefer the Age of Innocence, the Aviator, and now After Hours over films like Goodfellas and Raging Bull...Please don't throw tomatoes. I'll see myself out.

I really do hope we get a box set of films by that director that happened to make several critically acclaimed films with Toshiro Mifune. I won't mention the director's name directly, so hopefully it doesn't get pushed back another year.

Other than that box set, a 4K of Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair is what I want most. I will take it from Criterion or Miramax or whomever currently has the rights to it.
The Age of Innocence would certainly make the shortlist of greatest opening credits sequences in film history.

The June/July schedule (PDF) has been posted at the Film Forum, and they're going to be dong a huge Ozu retrospective in hour of his 120th birth year, with over 30 of of his films

They will also be showing the US premiere of the 4K restoration of Contempt (Lionsgate apparently releasing 4k in September), as well as a huge Billy Wilder retrospective as well with over 30 films including Some Like it Hot, Double Indemnity, Ace in the Hole, Sunset Blvd. Sabrina, and many more.

Ozu had perfect symmetry in life and death, man. Born on December 12th 1903, died on December 12th 1963.

The $40 membership they are charging now is ludicrous

Caught this in the theater a handful of years ago. Was pretty bummed to see they were projecting the Criterion DVD : /

There’s a pretty decent boot of this I picked up a couple years back. Some of the footage is on not from the best source, but still pretty cool to see it. Wish I could have hit that Tarantino Christmas at the New Bev when it played, but I did see both Kill Bills twice on opening day
