I think that could be the case. As much as I, like so many others, have been begging for an upgrade for The Lady Eve, I'm inclined to accept the recent comment from Lee Kline regarding the film elements. If Criterion put out a BD "upgrade" that showed little improvement over their DVD, they'd get trashed for it, probably to the point of making it irrelevant.

Without more information regarding the quality of the French edition, it's hard to be certain. But I don't think it's lost on Criterion that if a significantly better edition of that film could be put out, they should do it.

My big Disney license is dream is the director's cut of Watcher in The Woods. Maybe the stars will align one day...

There's a trailer for the Lady Eve restoration that played at the BFI:

It isn't the cleanest, but there are several of the same shots from the DVDBeaver caps that look to me improved:
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDRev..._lady_eve_.htm

And side-by-side comparisons of the French BD with a French DVD release in the DVDClassik review:
http://www.dvdclassik.com/test/blu-r...rges-wild-side

Looks to me to be a different, higher-resolution source that, while it isn't remarkable and could use some additional clean-up, is still an improvement.

Apparently no one can answer this and yet people on here were clamoring that the the fox release was from a 4k restoration...

The UK theatrical release of The Lady Eve is from a "new digital restoration", which is probably BFI doing some clean-up work on an older master. I don't know if that's good enough for Criterion, or whether people here would even be happy with that. No doubt the film deserves a bigger restoration job than that, which would take much longer.

Yeah, signs appear towards things changing, as Scream Factory has licensed a few Paramount titles lately. Hopefully they'll work with Criterion again, as I'd love Blu-rays of Roman Holiday, Paper Moon, and even Popeye (it IS an Altman, after all).

Crierion don't deliver outside the USA whilst B&N do, correct? What is the difference in sales prices % wise?

Correct. They're both 50% off MSRP, so most releases are $19.99.

How did you get B&N to ship to Australia? Wouldn't let me order anything.

Yeah, turns out they're no longer shipping Criterions internationally. Meaning no more Criterion sales, ever, for anyone outside the US and I can't even get a replacement copy of Asphalt Jungle.

So the reports are true Oh well, no more gambling with customs

Shipito from now on, I guess; and the plus side is Criterion have this 10% reward scheme going

Edit: Criterion would probably sort out your DVD problem. Is it in a BD case?

From the customer service live chat:
Quote:
koberulz: But why should the error be occurring now and not previously?
Kaye Marielle: It really happens. It is based on our website.
Kaye Marielle: The system will be the one to detect the items if they can be shipped internationally.
koberulz: So your website just randomly blocks items from being shipped?
Kaye Marielle: Unfortunately, yes.
