I'm not pretending. It's the exact same thing.

The constant asking can get annoying, but that's more about people not reading the threads than it is the question ever being asked at all.

yeah wanting to know what you are getting for your money is just stupid....

If you wanna see a movie in the best possible way, upgrade to the best format. The UHDs aren't going anywhere, people can take their time and upgrade when they're ready. I don't see why studios are obligated to include remastered BDs or sell them individually. Sony isn't still making games for PS2.

And the question still stands - do you buy a blu-ray to see if the dvd it's remastered?
Back in the day some wanted the DVD, and hoped to update to HD TV in the future. Same is now true for those with HD planning on UHD in the future.

And some will need the Blu-ray when not using their main UHD TV. e.g Bedroom or even computer (for those with a Blu-ray drive).

So its nice to know. Especially for those not yet with a UHD.

There's a reason why people want updated blurays. The majority of folks are still buying them and the quality is still beyond acceptable. Everyone doesn't have a 4K TV yet either.
The blu-ray people have become the DVD people.

I think all of us on here can agree Blu-ray is still an excellent format when utilized well. Yet to think of so many Blu-ray enthusiasts being unwilling to even consider getting into 4K media is disappointing. Hopefully more will be joining the bandwagon over time just like with DVD to Blu-ray. I remember tons saying they would never upgrade but it was just a matter of time...

There were just as many on home theater sites saying DVD was good enough and BD was unnecessary back in the day. Most of them eventually changed their minds as prices went down. That's all the resistance to UHD is about right now, people with good 1080p equipment and large movie collections who don't want to spend lots of money to upgrade. A way for them to feel better about being temporarily "left behind" is to act like the upgrade is meaningless or very minor.

Even I was skeptical on what UHD had to offer at first. That was until I saw it with my own eyes.

very true..but think how much better it would be if the studios did the 4K UHDs properly instead of how the first dvds and Bd's were done." Just get it out there" attitude is back unfortunately paving the way for more re-releases and double dipping....

I wouldn't make that comparison as I already explained.

And what a way certain people are being dismissive of others who don't want to buy UHD yet. It absolutely has nothing to do with feeling "left behind" or "acting like there's no difference." People like me genuinely feel the cost is not worth it yet vs what they already have. Bluray still being a relevant format with regards to picture quality helps with this. No matter how many times you want to compare the situation with DVD it's just not the same.

I can run out right now and go buy a 4K OLED. I don't have any other expenses like kids or a SO to worry about. I seriously do not feel like it at moment. The picture on my TV more than satisfies me. That wasn't the case with DVD. With my lowly 4:3 27" SD TV. You're gonna make that comparison? Really?

So until then we are going to keep asking for newly mastered blurays. There's nothing wrong with that.

I mentioned this in another thread recently, but getting an OLED and seeing a UHD playing on my Xbox One S was more of a revelation to me than any prior leap in home theater tech. So for me it's a fair comparison.

I believe you. I heard that from plenty of people. Still doesn't give me the urge to upgrade yet. Nothing to do with thinking there's no difference or justifying anything.

I just want new blurays man. lol.

Nothing wrong with asking. But understand that in a vast majority of cases you're not getting them. And all the arm crossing and complaining won't change that. That's just the writing on the wall.

There's nothing stopping people from buying a UHD player and using it on a HDTV.. just make sure to get one with high marks on SDR conversion.. It's really not that much money.

I only upgraded because I needed a new tv for BR. I was looking at a Sony LED for 1050, then the crazy sale happened Memorial day and I got an LG C7 for 1149 delivered. When fed properly it is amazing. For normal every day viewing it's online with a good plasma. having the ability to upconvert my favorite BDs is a big plus, especially with the OPPO 203 and it's DV output ability.Still, a KURO is a part of history so hang on to it as long as you can.

Blu ray can look great. 4k honestly is only a big upgrade if it’s a new scan from the camera negative

And it's silly comments such as this.....

Those who are truly content with Blu-ray wouldn't be the UHD subforum trying to convince others (or themselves really) that it's an unnecessary upgrade.
