I'll allow it, mine is

So I finally got around to see MI1 and MI2, as I'm slowly trying to catch up with the franchise with Fallout coming out next week. I did watch Rogue Nation in theater 3 years ago, which was the first MI movie I've seen lol. MI1 was awesome, and I also thoroughly enjoyed MI2. Not sure why MI2 gets so much hate. Other than the cheesy fight scene towards the end, I thought it was still an interesting plot and an entertaining movie. And my goodness, Thandie Newton was stunningly gorgeous in this movie. Can't believe I've been missing out on this franchise for so many years, but glad I'm slowly catching up. MI franchise is definitely in a league of its own when it comes to action movies. Looking forward to watching MI3 and MI4 over the next few days!

The fight scene at the end of 2 is the best part of the movie!

As the old adage goes: show, don't tell. (It's why I couldn't enjoy Avengers 1 for the longest time, so much of it revolves around Hawkeye but we've got no idea of who he is, what he's about, why Nat means so much to him and vice versa, but after AoE I've warmed up to him and Avengers 1.)
Madeleine Swann, you uncultured brute!

Oh and it's AoU, unless Hawkeye somehow snuck into AoE. And he very well might've. I always doze off for bits and pieces of that ungodly marathon of a movie...

But yeah in general, Ghost Protocol is entirely its action scenes. Not that the rest of the stuff is bad, it's just unremarkable. I kinda fall increasingly out of love with the newer two the more I watch them. Meanwhile I find more to enjoy in the first three the more I watch those.

I still don't understand how there are sequals given Ethan Hunt died in the helicopter explosion in 1.

Or, for that matter, why the International Monetary Fund has covert agents.

[Spoilers, but no spoiler tags because that doors already open]

I don't think it's a flaw, not just because it's clearly defined (we see his death, she explains who he was to her), but also because I think it ties in with Ethan's story of revenge against the death of his wife, and Brandt's tension with him over his perceived failures.

It's not perfect, but I think that's why that part of character development is in the story, to play off the other parts of dealing with loss.

The part of GP that I didn't get (I probably missed something) is if Ethan really killed all those guys that supposedly killed his wife, just to make her cover of death more bullet proof?

Chris

He didn't die, but he realized how insane the Impossible Missions Force is and decided to get a job at the International Monetary Fund. The sequels are just his imagination of what could've been had he stayed at the Impossible Missions Force. Ethan Hunt is actually squared away behind a desk somewhere, monitoring foreign exchange rates.

This is all explained in the first movie, I dunno how you missed it.

I haven't checked with any of the other discs yet, but wonder if MI2 through Rogue Nation will also show the disclaimer.
I'm the one who first reported it and I have a 4K TV. Funny thing is the disclaimers didn't pop up again the second time. Weird

Hmm that is pretty weird. It makes sense that the disclaimer pop up if a 4K blu-ray is connected to a 1080p TV, but strange that it would come up when it's properly set up to a 4K TV. Must have been some sort of glitch where it initially assumed that it wasn't connected to a 4K TV.

I used to have dreams as a kid of falling. Usually down a flight of stairs, but sometimes in a lift. And my favourite usually involved being in a lift that is plummeting to the ground floor at about 100 miles an hour, only a split second before it hits the ground, I jump into a air a little bit and escape completely unscathed.

That's what that end scene of M:I always reminds me of, love it though I do.

The force of the explosion threw him to safety onto the bullet train. That's just science bro.

Mi2 is a 2-hour-long ode to defying all known laws of physics, if kobe thinks the train bit was bad he ain't seen nuthin' yet!
