Wow. Just watched Mission Impossible 1. What an incredible upgrade.

Did anybody ever used to own this DVD copy of Memento?

You had to take a psychology test to access special features

I don't think I ever quite figured it out

My copy of the first MI has 12(!) pages of some disclaimer in what seems like 100+ languages - and this is before the usual 4 or 5 pages of regular disclaimers before the menu. Did I buy a foreign disc?

Paramount UHD discs seem to be worldwide so I doubt there is any difference between a US or foreign disc. This usually plays after the film finishes if you don't stop it. Maybe you left the disc in for a while and it got to that point.

Nope. The shrinkwrap had just come off and the disc was just inserted. It's possible I got someone's returned disc but the item looked brand new. No signs of it being previously viewed. And this only happened on the first film - not the 4 other ones.

No idea then. Maybe an authoring glitch? Were you able to repeat it? Could you get to the menu by pressing the menu button on the remote? I really doubt you got a return of a WW disc. What would be the point?

The only way to get to the main menu was to hit the next chapter button - 11 times. After sitting through all those languages, I'm taken to the first regular menu where they ask you what language you want the menu in! Hilarious. I'll take it this was a glitch.

Wrapped up Ghost Protocol last night and man, just a great looking and sounding disc. One of the best.

[Show spoiler]Needs more Léa Seydoux, though. Like, a lot more.

Needs more Josh Holloway too.

I think a slight flaw of this movie is having Paula Patton's big beef be over the death of a character she was romantically involved with that we never get to see her with.

Happened with me too when I inserted the 4K disc the very first time. I had to click fast forward x32 to skip all of them in a few seconds lol. Anyone else experience this as well?

Oh, this was also a 4K blu-ray players connected to a 1080p TV (don't have a 4K TV yet). The disclaimer was something about needing to connect to a Ultra HD TV in order to get all of the benefits. Is your TV also a 1080p TV? I doubt the disclaimer would pop up if it was indeed connected to a 4K TV.

Watched MI-1 last night and same thing here, and I am down-scaling to a 1080p display like you, using my Oppo.

Zero problems with M:I here, apart from the fact that Hunt obviously died in the explosion at the end.

Watched MI:3 last night. PQ was pretty damn great. No complaints at all. AQ was good, too.

Wonderful action movie.

Ranking:

MI5
MI4
MI3
MI1

MI2 (the movie is just terrible, IMO)

Agreed. Some folks gush over PP in this but she literally has one expression that she uses throughout and I never feel anything for her in her quest to defeat Blue is the Warmest Colour because, as you say, we never saw her and Lost guy together in a romantic way. As the old adage goes: show, don't tell. (It's why I couldn't enjoy Avengers 1 for the longest time, so much of it revolves around Hawkeye but we've got no idea of who he is, what he's about, why Nat means so much to him and vice versa, but after AoE I've warmed up to him and Avengers 1.)

Hoping we get a good Black Widow movie with them both.

Yeah, it seems like the disclaimer only appears when down-scaling to a 1080p display. No one else has reported this until yesterday, as most others here who have commented about the disc all have 4K TVs. I haven't checked with any of the other discs yet, but wonder if MI2 through Rogue Nation will also show the disclaimer.
