They didn’t just dial up the green in the Matrix. The entire movie is completely screwed up beginning to end. One couldn’t screw it up more if they tried.

Hey I like movies more than most here. Being called a troll with a 10 out of 10 rating.

As an owner of several cats, and as someone who fosters kittens, I think it's offensive and disgusting to see photos of litter boxes with movies in them. Litter boxes have a specific purpose and those photos are way out of line. Show some respect for the box!

That you refuse to acknowledge any reality beyond your own alternate reality where 480i Laserdiscs are superior to DP approved 4K transfers...well...we just have to take the piss out of you guys at this point.

It's very interesting or iv noticed lately that this seems to be becoming quite common.

I've noticed the same thing being said about the new Top Gun Blu Ray, and now it's being said about the new Matrix Blu Ray. Which kinds of shows now in hindsight how me and some others were correct when we noticed something being off about the remastered Beverly Hills Cop Blu Ray from a year or 2 ago. Which also came from a 4k master. That also had the same problem with seeming blown out.

Is this only happening sometimes when a new Blu Ray is created straight from a HDR 4k?....

Or this the new thing now where unfortunately that whenever a new Blu Ray is made from a 4k that this is something that people will just have to accept that going forward new Blu Ray's will always now have this issue?

Basically there are three options in terms of available masters that have handled the color grading differently. If the 4K isn't to your liking copies of the BD set and the snapper case DVD are everywhere for nothing these days.

-The original mastering available on letterbox VHS, Laserdisc and the snapper case DVD. This doesn't have the overdone greens and blues in the Matrix scenes of later masters but has issues of its own that keep it from being fully accurate. It still holds up pretty well though and is very well done for the era. Unfortunately due to the new film's release copies of the already hard to find LD now are going for silly prices. There is no reason for this as it is the same master across all three releases.

-In 2004 for the Trilogy DVD boxset and eventual HDDVD/BD releases the first film got a new master which altered the color timing to full on green in the Matrix to match the style of the sequels. This and other color timing issues really got the ball rolling for complaints and I personally hated what they did visually.

-The new 4K master addressed many of these issues but did add a dose of blue throughout which sticks out to some and not others. While it does resemble the IB release print I was able to see a few years ago in some areas it doesn't in others. The included BD disc was improperly converted to SDR and is full of blown out scenes and other issues.

This is just for the visual side. In terms of audio there have been a few remixes and there still seems to be a debate on which audio is better.

I really wish when the filmmakers make edits to the theatrical release they would give customers the option of the original cut as well. It's really annoying when your memory of the theatrical experience lives solely in your memory.

There's no definitive way to watch The Matrix on home video. The blu-rays and UHD have ugly colors, but the laserdisc and original DVD have a very primitive and obsolete PQ.

The saturation actually reminds me of Basic Instinct, now that I've seen that disc. Too warm, too teal.



I had to jack up the colors of the screenshot in GIMP a little bit to try to get close to how it looks on my Sony 900e in HDR. My madVR HDR > SDR screenshots always look too muted.

Youtube videos are mostly for and by zoomers these days. Just keep that in mind when you see something absolutely stupid on there, they just don't know any better. And anyone else older with more movie knowledge on there is usually ultra sketchy and just wants to shill to pay the bills like Wetmovie, or just trying to make money off fans by building a pay-meon.
