Love this movie. The BD looks amazing, so can't imagine how good this could look.

So, interesting tidbit.

Christopher McQuarrie answered a question on Twitter recently, that he would only return to direct a third installment of 'Jack Reacher', if it were R-rated this time around.

R-rated Jack Reacher is fine by me. Not necessary by any means, but welcome.

A more harder edged 2010s Tom Cruise movie would be most welcomed.

Either that or Tom Cruise playing a villain again. I'd be happy with either.

Action movies getting R rating should be the norm

That's how I feel about horror films more than any other genre.

It's crazy how much more I could've enjoyed stuff like 'Split' or 'Happy Death Day', if I didn't have to go in knowing that I was about to watch a film that was watered down tonally to some degree.

Good horror doesn't have to rely on gore, language and nudity. That's mostly the realm of crap like slasher or SAW flicks.

Who said anything about needing gore or nudity for a quality horror film? The MPAA will still crack down on a film for being too visceral due to its tone alone, if they find it pushes beyond a four-quadrant audience ('Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' had this issue).

So, again, this goes back to me saying that once you see a horror film is rated PG-13, you know it can't reach the psychological limits of something recent like 'The Witch' or 'The Babadook'. Neither of those films are 'crappy' slasher films, don't have a modicum of gore or nudity, yet are still R-rated. And they're all the more better for it.

The only thing that annoys me really with Collateral is no chance of a sequel. Tom was great in that role.

I think a new Reacher film needs a new Reacher. Tom did great with the first one and not bad with the second but he's looking older (and smaller!) now and a new Reacher is needed. Hopefully not with a small budget though and has to have at least a 15 cert.

He was too small in the first place, really. Bizarre casting choice between that and his age given the prospect of sequels.

Reacher isn't a young man though - Tom was the right age, just nowhere near the right build! But both films wouldn't have been made without him so there is that...

He isn't now, but he was relatively so when the books started. And even so, my point is more about how many films he could expect to do given the age at which he started. The books can go back and do prequels, fill in gaps, etc to keep churning out books without having Reacher get too old. Cruise can't de-age to keep getting films made.

They can easily solve that by casting shorter baddies. Strange that they did not do so in the two existing movies.
Anyway I like Cruise very much as Reacher so if they replace him for upcoming movies I'd probably pass on them (have never read the books though so that may explain why this character, much like Ethan Hunt, is Tom Cruise to me). I'd hate to have another Jack Ryan situation where the character gets continually replaced by a 'lesser' actor.

Daniel Craig looks nothing like Bond but he embodies the role incredibly well. Same for Tom Cruise and Jack Reacher. And at the rate TC is aging (aka in reverse), he can play Reacher for another 10 years, especially if his Mission Impossible days are over.

And after his Mummy Impossible backup franchise crashed and burned, he'll need another one. I hope it's this.

The Babadook was about as scary as a Disney movie.
