"He's caged Non!"

Uh no, he hasn't -- moron Superman has just set up the antenna to fall AGAIN the second Non escapes. He actually is "caging" Non by squashing the antenna in place over him? I'm sure even little kids in 1981 were thinking, "that's not going to hold him and the antenna will fall again to the street below."

Terrible action marred by horrible slapstick. A simple truck mirror reflects Zod's laser eyes? So basically a hall of mirrors would render Kryptonians heat vision ineffective? Two movies of build up to a real let-down of a fight.
No wonder the first movie has surpassed Superman II in most people's opinions.

let's be honest though, the toothpaste scene in the Donnor cut is one big 'ol WTF? moment.

Thanks for the price drop info. Just preordered it! I'm perfectly happy with the theatrical cut being the version released in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. I've got the extended blu-ray if I ever feel the urge to see that version. Can't believe it's been 40 years since I saw this in the theater.

Absolutely. The DVD SE boxset was a day one purchase for me in high school with my pitiful first part time job money applied to it. The 4 Film Favorites BD set was an instant upgrade buy.

Aaaaaand neither Returns nor Mask of the Phantasm is out on UHD yet.

USA didn't get Superman II until June 1981.
I remember seeing it and getting the souvenir program as a graduation present.

Well if they release it in 2020 then I suppose you can buy one and keep it in a draw for a year?

Thanks. Amazon price matched Target. I'd prefer to get it at Target (in-store) to get the 5% off with RedCard. But, for now, I've preordered it from Amazon. That locks in the $24.99 price.

I'm hopeful that we'll get reviews and/or early copies out there. If this doesn't look and sound spectacular then I'll be canceling my order.

I get what you’re saying, as a kid it never bothered me,plus we didn’t know any different then, but I prefer Donners ‘Vision’ for number 2 better. His cut is a bit of a mess but if he had had the chance to finish things off himself and put the end of one on 2 where it was supposed to be etc, his version would have been massively superior. But we’ll never know now because of the politics etc or whatever ruined Donners chance back in the day.

I still believe and think Superman the Movie, theatrical or expended etc is the best Superhero movie going. But hey that’s just me!

If Donner had finished the movie I'm sure I would prefer his version. He didn't though, and the slapped together attempt to emulate what he WOULD have done is just that.
