Shout!'s pretty easy to work with on replacements. The only one that took the longest was the last replacement for "Cult of Chucky" which took about a month. But, hey, that's beating Arrow's replacement case for the "Hellraiser". Still waiting on a shipping notice on that. Then comes the long overseas shipping process.
Can’t deal with shout when you live in Australia. I bought it from Amazon

Is the extended tv cut on disc 3 utilizing the 2007 Anchor Bay transfer? Didn't the 2014 Complete Collection disc use the 2013 35th anniversary transfer for the extended cut?

On disc three. What do they mean by original color timing presentation? Are they referring to the THX transfer, the 35th transfer, or the 2007 blu ray transfer?

And that's for both the theatrical and tv cut, right? Or does disc three only have the tv cut?

Disk three has the theatrical cut with the 2007 transfer, the extended cut with primarily the 35th anniversary transfer spliced in with the extra scenes, and the early 1980s NBC TV cut which is in 4x3

The voting discrepancy in this thread is why it's hard to take opinions and reviews seriously on this forum.

The Shout UHD is so unbelievably poorly encoded.

I'll put up with a crappy encode for the mono track and a better transfer.

I weighed keeping both but in time I think I will just go with the Shout. Sure the compression is better on the Lionsgate, but it's a worse underlying master, the color isn't as good, and on top of it is the missing mono track. Literally the only reason to own it is for better compression. The Shout has a better master, arguably better colors, and the original audio. The compression is lousy, but there is no total breakdown ala towel dropping nurse in the second film.

If the Lionsgate actually had the mono, it might be a case of pick your poison. The colors aren't as good and it's less detailed, but it's still alright when taken on its own. But missing mono. If you want this master with mono there is the Shout BD from the box set. But if going with a BD, why then not just go for the newer Shout BD included with their UHD?

I guess the whole encode thing just doesn't come out and slap me in the face when I watch it. I just don't see it.

I assume it's better in Dolby Vision?

I... guess so? I've no basis to compare because ive only watched it in DV. Then again, I'm not sure what I'd be looking for. Like, macroblocking in backgrounds or shadow detail??

If that was on the nosey, that was sincerely accidental.

I'm not super sensitive to compression issues unless they're really bad (like Studiocanal's Carpenter releases). When I notice it it's usually when grain becomes noise or blocks in areas like cloudy skies or smoke. The sky in Independe Day during the hero shots at the end is one example off the top of my head.

Wasn't there also an issue with the Lionsgate 4K slightly changing aspect ratio toward the end of the film?

Sure the encode sucks, but I can't get over the same 'ol shoddy audio transfer here. Both things turned this one into a pass for me.
I'll bite when they finally get that right!
