I bet Ruined could make a compelling arguement about how the Lionsgate disc is actually the most accurate presentation of the film that's ever been released

I used to think Taco Bell was just a made up chain that studios had tacitly agreed to use to avoid law suits from real restaurants. Like Acme and 555 numbers.
They only opened the first TB here in Glasgow about four or five years ago. We're being belatedly TB'ed. |

Arrow might be waiting until they’ve licensed more of the films and doing more work on the original before announcing anything. There’s plenty of extras they could add to the original (the Bio documentary, new interviews, etc) and Shout’s early encode can be improved upon. Also the extended cut could restore the missing title cards that were used in the broadcast cut.
I guess it’s possible Arrow only has digital rights, with the physical rights with someone like Second Sight, but too early to say. Since Trancas doesn’t have any distribution channels, they rely on other companies to release 1, 4-5 digitally (Shout also releases those films digitally in NA; they have similar deals with other companies too), and they may have wanted them available as soon as possible. I’d probably double dip on an Arrow release. This film is just too important for me not to own the best edition, and I’ve always been underwhelmed by Shout’s release. Pretty sure 2-3 are with Lionsgate in the UK. That’s who Via Vision licensed them from for AU. Last edited by GeoffOliver; 09-10-2025 at 01:52 PM. |

According to posts in the thread for Imprints set they're with Sanctuary in the UK. The last time they got released on disc were some DVDs in 2010 + 2011, they've never even had a Blu-ray release in the UK.

The rights for HII and HIII were picked up by Scanbox Entertainment, with DVD releases coming in 2011. Apart from a different menu, the content and transfers were straight ports of the Sanctuary releases. In 2013, the DVDs were reissued with one notable change - the replacement of Scanbox logos and serial numbers with High Fliers Films. Apart from the logo and serial number changes (and Halloween III incorrectly receiving a BBFC 18 certificate on the packaging!), the DVDs and packaging are identical. Pictured here is the uncensored - yet horrendous quality - M.I.A. release from 2000, the censored Scanbox release from 2011 and the identical High Fliers release from 2013. Note the erroneous BBFC 18 rating! See below: Quote:

Why does the witch-face look sinister on the bottom two, but the top one looks as though it's perving?

If it's authentic to the UK release in 1979, then it should have this at the beginning. Go on, Arrow.
