There hasn't been an official announcement yet, so no release date or price yet, but there is a thread about an early listing that popped up.

It was and it went "currently unavailable". It was $49.99 at the time.

This and Trainspotting were the first DVDs I bought in 2001 when I picked up the PlayStation 2; can’t wait for the 4K upgrade!

This is a great suprise, can't wait! I'd love to see the trilogy set in UHD. I actually loved Riddick.

Surprised this and Flash Gordon are the first 4K when they did a 4K scan of Sixteen Candles, seems like they'd have started there... but cool. I never actually saw this one, or even Riddick, but I did see Chronicles of Riddick on cable a couple times when we had premium cable years back and enjoyed it.

You should've watch Pitch Black first and then Riddick before you watched Chronicles in sequence, to get a better understanding of the overall story from the beginning.

At the time, I didn't know there was one before it due to the unrelated film titles. I had to catch it a couple times before finally seeing the whole thing anyway... but I didn't not understand it.

Arrow Films has a plethora of 4K scans at their disposal that they could’ve done 4K UHDs for.

These two titles make sense for testing the UHD waters. Flash Gordon and Pitch Black are two of their most mainstream releases to date. It also helps that Pitch Black also sold like gangbusters during the DVD era.

Exactly. That's why the wording is so weird.

While I'm delighted that Arrow is finally going 4K, I have to say I hope they eventually include a standard blu-ray in their 4K sets, as well. I'd much rather pay a few dollars more for a 4K/BD set; that way extras wouldn't need to be squeezed onto a 4K disc as well, meaning more space for the encode.

Funny you mentioned that because Pitch Black was indeed one of very few DVDs I got back at that time and it was really hard since DVDs weren't available in my country and I asked a friend of mine who was visiting the US to get me some movies on DVD and Pitch Black was one of them. The Unrated Director's Cut version.

I watched it so many times back then and remember it by heart. Also used its DTS audio as a demo for my newly purchased PC 5.1 speaker system at that time lol

It's the same price if you buy them each separately, as it would have been buying 4K/BD.

Re: unrated director's cut. That rather misleading description got my hopes up back in the day, I recall being highly disappointed that there wasn't any additional violence.

Not everything with a noted "4K scan" on an Arrow release was actually finished in 4K tho
