This is exactly how I feel. The current BD is stunning to look at but frequently has moments sonically that feel out of place.

Even though he may have been involved in some controversial matters in his private life, ( nobody is perfect) but he was a terrific actor. He has starred in some of the most prestigious roles in film history.

I hope this movie comes to 4K Blu-ray in the UK and other countries as well!

4K Blu-ray discs have just one region code. They can be played in any country, on any 4K player. Hope this helps anyone waiting on a domestic release.

The region coding part might be true, but it doesn't stop a few releases from being region locked nonetheless.

Having said that, there's no reason why this shouldn't be able to be played in all 4K UHD players. None of the major distributors have implemented anything like this so far.

That's 4K new news to me. Unless it comes down to studio licensing stipulations, these independent companies that choose to region lock their 4K releases pretty much shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to international sales.

Controversial? Absolutely nothing controversial about is political or social views. The same beliefs are held by millions of your fellow citizens.

Hardly controversial and isn’t an indicator of “not being perfect.” Half the country believes similarly. Half disagrees.

I’m interested to see how the plagues and the Red Sea parting looks on the UHD.

But no one has gotten as bad as James Woods.

But none of this has anything to do with the movie that this thread is for.

James Woods is a great actor. Still waiting for ‘Ghosts of Mississippi’ on BD.

Yes indeed.
An actor's political or religious beliefs should not be allowed to impugn their work , the two are separate. Regardless of his feelings on gun ownership, Heston will always occupy a special place in classic film due to the Ten Commandments, Ben-hur and of course the original Planet of the Apes.
Likewise someone like Tom Cruise. Do i find the beliefs of scientology to be bunk ? Certainly. Does not stop me from appreciating his role in some of the best action films of the last 30 years.
Other people perhaps draw the line at actors or directors that have fallen on the wrong side of the law. But even there, films are a collaborative effort, with the work of literally thousands of people in front of and behind the camera.
Should i truly consider myself a fan of film only to totally disavow the works of Polanski, Spacey, any Weinstein produced or funded film, any Bryan Singer or Woody Allen film?
You certainly don't have to condone a person's actions to acknowledge their influence to the art form.
I shall now step back down off the soap box.

AKA learn how to separate the art from the artists, and stop trying to "cancel" people.

For instance, Michael Jackson's music doesn't cease to exist just because a person wants to plug their ears and cover their eyes. Best to just steer clear of any public conversation and stop telling other people their business. They can make up their minds for themselves.

I don't know. I thought the panel selection this year wasn't that bad. Especially seeing as I got a pretty good one last year. I wouldn't say it is top of the line, but it handles what I'm playing very nicely. To my eyes anyway.

[Show spoiler]I have not posted this anywhere else but I do have a sister that works at Paramount, who hears inside stories, and she told me that Fox had already been working on a UHD 4k release of The Sound of Music for it's 55th anniversary this year in March. Every 5 years Fox released a new version of this film. Apparently, they were pretty far along with it, and when Disney acquired Fox, this and several other titles being worked on were scrapped. The Sound of Music appeared on Disney Plus the day Disney+ premiered their streaming service. See, there's a reason behind everything. No other streaming service has The Sound of Music unless you want to purchase it, and considering the original transfer was made in 8k and converted to 4k for blu-ray, it would have been very easy to release a 4k disc. This is my all time favorite movie so I am really pissed. And for those of you who don't like that one, it has been told to me that Patton, Hello Dolly!, M*A*S*H*, Butch Cassidy, Cleopatra, , Night at the Museum, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Young Frankenstein, The original Planet of the Apes movies and How Green Was my Valley were being considered for 2021. Do you think we will see any of these on physical media 4k from Disney? I have extremely high doubts now. Not a single film is nscheduled from the Fox library for a 4k disc release. The Sound of Music is still HD and not 4k on Disney Plus.

That is completely incorrect. Disney released Mulan back on November 10th.

Not to mention the post he was commenting on was exclusively about Fox catalog titles that the studio was reportedly preparing for 4K, only to be cancelled after Disney took over. Disney has no problem releasing certain parts of its catalog -- Star Wars, Pixar, many Disney Renaissance titles (especially if paired with live-action remakes like Mulan) -- but it treats the Fox catalog and pre-Renaissance animation differently.

The original post I quoted and the part I did not spoiler, said nothing about live-action catalog films. It said "Disney has not released a single catalog title in 4k since Home Alone, several months ago, and NONE are announced.". So, my response was on point and very accurate.

Yes, but the part of the post I was commenting on made no mention of Fox. It stated, "Disney has not released a single catalog title in 4k since Home Alone, several months ago, and NONE are announced." Disney is the key word here. Yes, Home Alone is a Fox movie. But the part of the post I was commenting on didn't say Disney hasn't released any FOX catalog titles since Home Alone. it just said that Disney hasn't released ANY catalog titles since Home Alone. Therefore, I am correct in what I said. Yes, Fox was mentioned in the first sentence, but the second sentence does not and is too broad to suggest otherwise.

He about threw his career under a bus for being so politically active in the civil rights movement. The guy's a hero.

You cherry-picked ONE sentence from a broader comment by a member who I believe is an industry insider, who in context was discussing the Fox catalog (NOT Disney's pre-Fox catalog), and claimed to "disprove" him by going OUT of context and citing ONE Disney Renaissance (NOT Fox) title that had ample reason for being moved up in the 4K pipeline (a live-action remake). You should have shown more respect for Mr. Siegel's 100% valid point that Disney seems to be killing Fox's 4K catalog work, which was the context for his statement.

Most likely the only reason we got Home Alone was it was too far along in the disc mastering process & Disney thought they could still get SOME life out of it. Sadly, though the same argument probably could have been made for The Sound of Music (MUCH closer to the original topic of this thread), Disney seems to have killed Fox's work on it and won't even let it be 4K on Disney+, much less UHDBD or EST/VOD streaming.

The good news is, Paramount seems FAR less cavalier about its 70mm-era crown jewels (like The Ten Commandments) than Disney, which couldn't even be bothered to do Sleeping Beauty (animated in Super Technirama 70, *not* a Fox acquisition) in 4K. Oh well, BACK ON TOPIC!
