No. The rights are with its producer, Richard P. Rubinstein, and according to Syanpse, he's asking a sh!t load of money for it.

Thanks! I totally forgot about that. Richard needs to think of history and the film and let a company who knows what they are doing handle the transfers etc.

And I forgot all about the 3D Dawn they were working on. I wish Rubinstein would get the film its due quality over the dollar.

Being my favorite movie of all time, I'd love to have this on BD, since I already have the Ultimate Edition DVD, and I was eyeing the US BD at first, but with it's current asking price, I could save up some more and eventually get that Japanese box set for ~$100, so that seems like the better option at this point (unless the finally reissue it in a decent box set here in the US in the next few months)

I'm sure it will eventually come out again on BD, but who knows when.

Hang on to that Ultimate Edition DVD for now and hold out for a new scan - trust me, the BD wasn't much of an improvement (definitely not worth paying a premium for), and the other cuts on Blu in Europe have issues all of their own.

I have the UK release (hello from England) and I have never really taken any huge issues with the picture quality so would be curious to know what problems people have had if any with this release?

I thought the Blu-Ray was okay...it was released a while ago and I don't think the transfers were quite state of the art as they are now. Anyway, I'm with the crowd here and would love to see a transfer from the originals done with love and care. This movie is a classic and really deserves the cadillac treatment.

Long as it isn't overly polished, the grain is definitely part of the period charm of it. It's been in my top ten movies of all time so any future releases I will be very interested in.

Two things I want. New scan, no DNR. The previous master had been optimised for use in the DVD generation - it makes a handsome Ultimate Edition DVD c.2004 but a limited Blu-ray in 2015. It's not so much a bad Blu-ray as one that can just be bettered quite easily (at the cost of a new scan).

This. I have the overpriced Japanese boxset. It's nice, but it has its flaws, especially at the end (in all three cuts). There are only trailers as extras. The Ultimate Edition DVD is still the best option.

I don't understand people and this whole "grain is part of charm" stance. If you want the grainy look keep the dvd. Bluray was created for a better picture, they should really tighten this up picture wise. Make it pop real horrorshow.

In related news, I can't believe this is going for $65 US version.

Dawn of the Dead was shot on film. Film has grain. That's how it should look. A new restoration should preserve the grain, not remove it.

DVD was more heavy on video noise parading around as grain. Blu ray was NOT created so we could have every movie look like shiny plastic.

BLU should show a movie the way it looked as close to film as possible.

I'm gonna duck for cover - but I don't think the Anchor Bay blu-ray is all that bad, quality-wise.

I've sworn off of Dawn on Blu (still got the amazing 4-disc AB DVD set) until such time as it gets the treatment it deserves. Heck, for all my moaning about Shout's incompetence I liked what they did with Day of the Dead on Blu, and I'd take a new transfer from them for Dawn over what we've got at the moment.

If anyone has the interest to attend to this again, I'd like a new transfer of the extended cut personally.

I much prefer the US theatrical with an honourable mention for the Argento cut, so hopefully any new edition will have all three cuts.
