The extended cut put me to sleep, absolutely tedius. The theatrical cut is the only worthwhile version of the film.

I like all three official cuts. Each has some merit. Would love the 4th, the extended mall hours cut to get an official release.
What are the differences added in the 4th version & how much longer is it?

The extended cut is my fave; I think all the additional scenes add to the experience. Don't understand how it could put anyone to sleep.

While I wouldn't say it slows it down it definitely makes performances and edits significantly worse. Mainly with Fran's performance.
I doooo like the extended gore though, and the scene where Fran asks Peter "Real brothers or street brothers?" is pretty funny.
I also like the explanation of those guys on the docks as well, but the cut into that scene works a lot better in the theatrical (going from Peter shooting the gun to the dead guys head falling into shot)
The theatrical is tighter all around and much preferred for sure, but I kind of wish there was a hybrid of the two that keeps the best of both.

I care not what cut, I would take the censored TV cut if it was remastered in 2k at least

I love the line about street brothers too. The Extended was the first version I saw when I had this DVD box set years ago.

I LOVE that cut from Peter to the dead radio guy.

Love that one of the cops on the dock was played by Joseph Pilato who went on to be Rhodes in Day of the Dead.

It's not an official cut, and first appeared in Germany IIRC. It has material from all 3 official cuts to have the most footage possible.

He's British, they don't understand American movies.

Strange, because GAR has disowned the longer cut.

I think he's American, though he could be from Barnsley.

I almost picked this up for $6 at FYE a few weeks ago, really kicking myself now knowing this is going for $40 on Ebay.

So what is generally considered the best blu-ray of this? I have the Anchor Bay American blu-ray. I like the theatrical cut just fine, im concerned about picture quality.

IMHO it's a mixed bag across the board, but I prefer the US. theatrical cut and have had the Anchor Bay disc since 2008. I'll stick with it until we see something better.

What surprises me is that you can't find the theatrical cut of this film anywhere online! I tried renting this film from Netflix and the DVD they sent me was scratched up so it would freeze at the 107 minute mark (not the Blu Ray version). They're sending another copy but it won't show up for three more days! There's only the director's cut available on YouTube.

I'm in the minority that prefers the Argento cut - probably mostly due to it being the version I grew up with, though I also much prefer Argento's Goblin score to Romero's library music.

The old US blu ray sells on ebay for around $30-40 on a daily basis. I assume one day it will be re-licensed by someone, if you're patient.

It's pretty much the same as buying a Twilight Time title. If I was dying to see the movie again I would pay $30 for it, same as I just paid $30 for Zardoz. Everyone has a different threshold with this stuff though.
