I wouldn't mind having a blu of that "Extended Mall Hours" fan edit of the film. I know I like many aspects of the Extended and the theatrical cut.

Patience pays off. I was able to score an Anchor Bay copy for $9.99 at a local reseller store a couple of months ago. These early Anchor Bay titles actually look pretty good to me. I even grabbed the original Anchor Bay release of Halloween and I am content owning that title as well (Sorry Dean) I have no doubt this film will be re-issued at some point but for now I am really happy to have it.

I've never even seen the alternate cuts, you guys have me perusing ebay. Looks like I can get the old Anchor Bay BD for the same price though, and I would probably opt for that.

Crap, now I am watching like three of them. I hate you guys!

What? I'm the guy who hates horror and yet I've bought Dawn more times than I've had hot dinners. And you call yourself a horror fan, Velvet. Tsk!

Unless you can find a used copy of this AB release cheap, I would just wait. It's going to be rereleased eventually.

I had it on VHS and DVD, but I sold all my DVDs a while back when I went to work overseas, assuming I'd be buying them all again on BD anyway and having nowhere to store them. Missed the original BD because I was overseas when it came out!

I think I might grab it from one of these $28 buy-it-nows. 'Bout time I see it again.

Having worked in a shopping mall for many years I can say the film is still very relevant.

I watched the DVD one not long ago in my theater for the first time and honestly, it didn't look awful. DVD-resolution, I know, but I feel like a more higher-def one would make the film look worse.

The AB DVD isn't a bad option at all, and it doesn't have the detail-removing clean up pass which was performed for the AB Blu-ray release.

That's true, but I still prefer the BD: http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...less=1#auswahl

Mainly because of the better colors and correct framing.

My resolve about not buying it again unless it's remastered collapsed like a house of cards when I found the Aussie BD for £8.52 on ebay. It's odd that there's not a lot of information out there about it, but £8-something quid it's worth a punt.

I'm a little surprised that Anchor Bay didn't double dip this on Blu-ray again. Or that someone like Scream Factory hasn't got it. Hell, where's Night of the Living Dead?

Still happy to have the AB version on Blu-ray. I'd buy it again if extras are extensive, but my AB copy is autographed so I'm stuck with it regardless of any new version.

What's the absolute best copy to own these days transfer wise and do you guys think that AB will revisit it with a new scan and extras?

If you are in England Night can be purchased on Blu very cheap. Not sure which version is best though. I believe its in the public domain so can be released by anyone. I picked up the DVD about ten years ago with a ton of bonus content for £2

Anyone know what the best UK edition is? I know the best overall edition is the Japanese one.

Definitely the Optimum, it's very comparable to the Japanese version:

http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...ss=1#vergleich

Or you could just buy the Japanese release from CDJapan for $11.22:

Thanks for posting the link, had been debating a Blu purchase for a while with Night.

Can anyone confirm if the Japanese release is region free? I see it listed as A on the website.
