I'd like to know that too. I had ordered it from Base, but they ended up cancelling all the non-UK orders and I couldn't really afford to re-order it from anywhere else, especially after they announced that they were releasing a versions with just the Blu-rays and UHDs.

I haven't had a chance to sit and read it yet, but thumbing through it looks awesome. Here's the table of contents and it's 156 pages, hardcover! Lots of pictures in middle section from posters to behind the scenes and model kits, some sheet music excerpts and more, pages 54 to 95.

There is also a second paperback of the novelization of the film, 226 pages.

That came two years later on a BD-R. I believe that was released because people were disappointed it wasn’t on the Criterion Night Blu-ray. It is on the Australian Blu though.

Both are held hostage by Rubinstein. If Criterion got a hold of both, I wouldn't put it pass them to do that. I would believe the don't see merit for Martin to get an individual release.
It's been mentioned already in that they did it too Kubrick. And there's De Palma's Blow Out with his debut Murder a la Mod as a bonus feature.

Martin is too good to be treated like that.

Also I would like to thank DukeTogo84 for asking various sources and companies about a Region A release of this film. It put a new breath of life into this thread that was only here for the last year as another place for those to chat only about the Second Sight edition.

It's possible, if Criterion got its hands on both, that is.
Killer’s Kiss is thematically very similar to The Killing; The Front Page and His Girl Friday are both based on the same play.

As for Blow Out + Murder a la Mod, HipsterTrash, the latter was a little-seen, early career curiosity, thought to be lost. It does not have the reputation of something like MARTIN. What is conceivable is something like The Amusement Park being included as a bonus feature on a MARTIN BD. Those two films at least share an actor.

I maintain it makes no sense for Criterion or any other label to even seriously consider releasing it as a bonus feature on another film’s BD. If they do, I will literally buy you a copy of it. How’s that?

Oh, I'll hold yeah to that.

Im just concerned that they would do that. It seems like something they would do, if they are to get both titles in a deal with Ruby.

Speaking of the Amusement Park, I would agree that would be a feature on a Romero release. I remember his wife saying she wanted to release it on Blu at some point. But it doesn't deserve its own singular release.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a region A with all the bonus footage. Was excited when I saw the slim down release, but it was still region locked.

I believe there are people at Criterion that really love Martin, that plus the nutty price that Rubinstein apparently wants, there is no way that it would be treated as an extra.

First off, I have the 4K SS release and cannot see anyone improving on the complete package provided from them. Truly one of the best offerings for one of the best horror films of all time. It's one of my prized possessions on my wall of film goodies. The only company that is not a major studio with deep pockets is Criterion. Shout too, but I don't see them doing this. Criterion may do this, but if it is NOT presented in 4K HDR then they might as well skip it. It would be a great starting point for them to releasing UHD's, but I just don't see it happening. I would see something more along the lines of Seven Samurai being their first 4K, but who knows if they will ever make the leap. These Mill Creek rumblings are making me laugh, as I frankly DO see them putting it out. Stranger things have happened.

Who is rubenstein? Does he hold distribution right to dawn or something?

I don't go deep enough to know all the little things like who's who outside of directors, actors, and special effects guys from the 80s.

You're welcome. I just had a feeling someone had it. Geek Gab's confirmation doesn't mean it's a sure thing, but it increases the chances. If Criterion has it, it would make sense to release it in October, but at the end of the day, they don't always release things at a time where it would make the most sense.

He was a/the producer on all those films and now owns them. He did a 3D restoration of Dawn a few years back and spent way too much $ on it. Now he's trying to get that $ back from BD license, but it won't happen. I'm not sure how the Second Sight disc came to be, just glad it did. He's apparently asking way too much for the other films now too.

Night flier? Wasn't that an hbo movie from a stephen king story? I remember seeing it when I was younger. I remember liking it.

And well that's a shame he wants so much for it. I'd buy a region A in a heartbeat. Shame he couldnt license it for collector's edition for a year or something for less then license it out to someone with a larger reach for a standard edition like criterion or scream factory and write in he gets X amount of every so many sales. I don't know how that stuff works but it seems like there is some way he can make it work instead of the all or nothing approach.

Oh well, I have the Blu Ray I bought a while back but id love a new restoration.

Well, if Geek Gab is to be believed, we should be getting a new release by the end of the year here. We'll see I guess.

They released Night of the Living Dead and Silence of the Lambs in February.

I saw The Njght Flier at a dollar theater when it was released, so it must have had a small theatrical release of some kind.

Maybe I just saw it on hbo. For some reason I always thought it was an actual hbo movie like cast a deadly spell. That's another one I'd love to have on Blu Ray.
