Btw, how would you guys rank the Dead series?

I've always rank them this way:
1- Night remake (the first one I saw, around the same time I first played Resident evil One on playstation one, it left quite an impression on me!)
2- Dawn of the dead (original and funny enough, the second one I saw haha. It made me a fan of the series forever).
3- Day of the dead (every time I watch it this one keeps getting better, it's up to a point it's nearly on par with Dawn to me).
4- Night original (I always have a harder time with the first half hour, you can really tell it was made very cheaply. But after the other characters come out of the basement, the movie really picks up and never lets go, a true classic!).
5- The Dawn remake (I remember not caring much about it when it first came out, comparing it too much with the original one. But it's one of my wife's favorite movie and I've rewatched it so often with her since that I've come to enjoy the movie on it's own).
6- The rest. :P
Dawn - Awesome. I don't watch it as much as I did as a kid, but that doesn't mean I like it less. 9/10

Night - Great also. Lots of claustrophobia, great use of library music and a great low budget feel. 9/10

Dawn remake - Very good action horror. I don't see how it could have came out much better for what the movie was aiming for. 7.5/10

NOTLD remake - Better acting than the original... Obviously a higher budget, but I think the positives over the original in there. Still good though. 6.5/10

Land of the Dead - This movie has some problems. It lacks strong characters... It doesn't have enough standout scenes. It never really rises above where it starts out as... That's not to say that it is terrible. It has the strongest cast and the highest budget of the George zombie movies... But the results should have been better.

The movie just sort of floats on at the same level most of the movie.

Good gore from what I remember. It's good enough to watch and own, but it should be better. 6.5/10

Day of the Dead - This one just does not connect with me beyond the gore...Which is enough to watch the movie every now and then, but most of the rest is just not good.

The characters, the dialogue, the music and the location. It's hideous. The lack of talent in front of the camera is obvious.

I get bored with this movie. 6/10

Forget the rest.

The back half of Romero's Dead series gets no respect. For shame. While not as good as the initial trilogy, they still have that Romero touch.

Dawn
Day
Night
Land
Survival
Diary

I like the Night and Dawn remakes. Never bothered with Day. But I hear the Day tv show coming out soon is going to be rad but maybe because the guy behind The Void and PG Psycho Foreman is behind some episodes.

I feel like George fell off after Creepshow.

In many ways, Creepshow is his best movie...

In terms of directing, editing, acting, storytelling and entertainment value.

I'm a Romero fan. I dig his work after Creepshow as much as before it too.

I see original green ones for sale around 2 grand, reds are around $500. It all points to green as the first, but up to you if it's the original or more accurate.
So it's basically exactly what Second Sight have done with it, then. Limited green version, wide-release red version.

Talk about attention to detail.

Hello. My name is Jay, and...I think The Dark Half is Romero's best movie.

Oh wow, thanks for the research! And yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I like both colors but there's something about the green that makes the poster pop out even more, imo

Dawn of the Dead is my favorite for a different reason. I live and grew up going to Monroeville Mall. I was 13 when it was being made there. It’s about 15 minutes away from me. It’s super flashback time for me when I watch it.
It’s a great movie but it’s very sentimental for me to watch. When it was announced with the extra Monroeville Mall memories, I was in.

You're right. Gotta respect these labels companies who go the extra miles. Super impressive!

If Rubenstein is allowing a US release, I think he could distinguish it from the UK release by including the 3D version he financed. It may not translate to exponential sales increases, but at least it would be preserved. It was a GREAT conversion, and is a lot of fun.

I fully realize many see the format as dead, but...

If Vinegar Syndrome has popped their 3D cherry at this stage in the technology, and Scream used the F13 3D as a selling point in their box set, is it unreasonable to want the DOTD 3D conversion included?

Dawn
Night
Day (Night and Day are interchangeable depending on mood)
Land
Diary
Survival

Night 1990 is also exchangeable with 68 depending on mood. I'd put the 04 Dawn just above Land, but didn't want to include remakes in my list, which of course, is one the true list.

So I asked Geek Gab if they can give us any hints on who is releasing Dawn of the Dead in the US and they said they have already left bread crumbs. I have no idea what they are talking about, unless he's talking about the boxset info that Criterion made him remove.

I am thinking they are more legit. He did describe how the Joker would look in the new Justice League film, and the blurred figure that was shown today, does meet everything he said. We'll see I guess.

Didn't he also say only a day or two ago that either Heat or Speed would never be on 4K? Or am I mixing that up with someone else?

I somewhat remember that, but he's saying that he mentioned that Heat, Speed, Pirates, and the Sound of Music would be getting 4K discs this year.

Interesting. So they were right about Heat. Hmm. Well, I have no idea what bread crumbs they left for Dawn of the Dead. They have mentioned Criterion a few times, so maybe that's it. They also claim that Criterion is going 4K this year.

I know we've discussed the issue all over this forum, but I can't see Criterion holding off on 4K much longer. All these companies like Arrow and such are going to eat their lunch if they don't get onboard with the next format.

And something like Dawn of the Dead would be a helluva way to start things off with a 4K release.

I'm not dying for it myself, I've got the DVD box that I've hardly watched, but a nice Criterion set might get my attention.
