The Aussie release is generally the cheapest option, though it seems sold out everywhere at the moment. If you want to spring for an out of print copy I personally think the Anchor Bay looks better than the Arrow, and is cheaper, but people disagree. It depends on the viewer.

YMMV. I think it looks fine with great colors and detail, but others say it's unwatchable. I'm sure there is room for improvement, but don't think it's nearly as bad as some make it out to be. Haven't seen the Arrow disc in action.

The AB does have more ham-fisted dirt/damage removal which is a separate issue, producing some glitches which are occasionally obvious in motion (IIRC there's one near the end when Peter addresses Fran just before she goes up to the helicopter, a strange blotch appears on the screen for a split-second rather than the more normal looking damage seen in the same spot on the Arrow version). There's not a massive difference between the two because they both use the same ratty transfer underneath with localised mastering differences, but seeing as the AB is OOP and the Arrow encode can be bought for peanuts via the Aussie Umbrella disc, I went with the latter. |

Got the Oz disc, can't access the Dead Will Walk documentary. PAL? Not too much of an issue, I can watch it on the AB DVD set.
So the Japanese blu-ray was sourced from SD for the opening and closing of the Argento cut? Is this the same or different with the Euro releases of the Argento cut? |
