I was lucky enough to find the four disc Ultimate Edition set used for $20 a few months ago. Before that I had the single disc DVD, which I sold off.

I've always loved Dawn of the Dead (1978), and I really want to upgrade my old DVD set, but I'm pretty sure that another release of this film will be coming down the pipes at some point.

Is there any general timeframe for this euro cut release, or is it up in the air like SUSPIRIA?

Still got the sealed Ultimate Edition DVD set I paid $10.88 for several years back.

Will probably never open that baby, so I'll just have to wait for a Blu-ray reissue with the rest of you.

I couldn't care less about the European cut. Either restore the U.S. theatrical cut or the extended cut.

Those aren't an option thanks to the rights holder trying to charge way too much. The only reason we can get this is he doesn't control this cut.

The Italian label Midnight Factory will bring this new restored version in UHD, Blu-ray and DVD the next autumn.

I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with this, I have watched that cut a grand total of one time since getting that ultimate DVD set way back in 2002 or whenever it was. Does anyone else actually watch it over either of the other two?

As a follow-up to earlier comments, I did end up buying that Aussie blu-ray from a seller on Amazon.co.uk for ~25 bucks shipped. It's definitely not very pretty, but it's much better than the DVD, so I guess it will be my go-to until the rights-holder dies and we can see a definitive release!!

Since I live in Quebec, a french speaking province in Canada, this is the cut I was introduced with on VHS when I was a kid (1984-1996) it automatically became my favorite film of all time. I only first saw the Extended Cut (Anchor Bay doubled tape set VHS) when released in 1996. I like all cuts and I'm actually glad there's 3 of them.

The original Dawn of the Dead (1978) is one of the great, great horror films. Absolutely perfect. The first time I saw it I just couldn't believe how good it was. Is there anything wrong with the Anchor Bay blu-ray from 2007? is there a better transfer out there?

I have three-version DVD box-set as well (and the tie-in novelization, a book about the film, trading cards etc), but to enjoy the film I always watch the Anchor Bay blu-ray released in 2007.

The Anchor Bay blu-ray is a bit heavy on DNR, but not too distracting imo. The Arrow has less DNR and more film grain but I like the colors of the Anchor Bay release better. I am very happy with that release

It's great that we're getting a proper remaster of at least one of the versions of the film. Hopefully the theatrical and extended cuts follow suit at some point.

I have stuck with the AB BD as well. It's not perfect, but it will tide me over until a proper master is struck.

They both have their own issues. The AB is softer and cleaner due to the dirt & noise reduction passes but I like the colour a bit better, whereas the Arrow is a touch more natural-looking (or as natural as this transfer can be with its baked-in DNR artefacts) with more blips and marks and has a greenier vibe. Sold my AB for £30 a while back and got the Arrow-cloned Aussie release for £9, that plus the awesome AB 4-disc DVD has tided me over so far. I did have the French BD of the Argento cut but it's rotted. Can't wait for the new Italiano disc!!

I can't believe this film (nor Night) doesn't have a good American release.

This was my first ever favorite film when I was only like 7 years old. I remember going zombie hunting in my backyard with friends.

It's probably just a matter of time. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway.

I found a copy at my local 2nd and Charles. I did not buy it but they had it listed used for $30.00. I used to own it and sold it when I needed some extra cash and regret it everyday.

On a completely unrelated note they also have a copy of the Ace Ventura Double Pack that is OOP also for $12....lol

I actually found my copy in 2008 at Hollywood Video. It was $9 new. I still can't believe how lucky I was because at the time it was almost $20 on Amazon.
