Yeah, I was just reading more in that thread I linked and it does appear that they were confused.

That said, if you have a Mac, you can get clever and look up how to get the developer profile like BluSoldier did.

Any chance you can point me in the right direction via PM? I got as far as downloading the two necessary programs yesterday. (Xcode and configuration)

Just finished an online chat with Sony customer service about my blanking problem. Let me rephrase that, my tv's blanking problem. If you recall, this all started after installing the .0075 update. I provided him a reference ticket number someone else with the same problems opened. But he didn't seem too interested in it. He basically just emailed me some steps like unplug the tv and satellite receiver. And hold this button down while pushing these buttons while simultaneously jumping on one foot and rubbing your head. I haven't fully read the instructions. Will try tonight. Otherwise he said contact Sony's warranty. The tv isn't even two weeks old. Ugh!

Well that is obnoxious.

Are you using DirecTV? A user over here is having issues with his as well: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lc...l#post55569246

I also have DirecTV but I use RVU so I haven't seen the issue yet myself but I do still have my C61K in a drawer, so I could test it out at some point to see if I can reproduce the issue.

Yeah, I use DirecTV. I haven't tried any other sources since doing the .0075 update. So can't comment on those. I asked the rep if there's a way to rollback to .0070. Unfortunately that's a big no. I'll give some of his email tips a shot. What do I have to lose? If you don't mind and have the time give the C61K a try. Will be interested to see if you get the blank bug too.

Confirming that the x930e is mindblowingly good with DV on the AppleTV. If you haven’t done so already side load the latest Sony firmware update, sign up for the Apple public beta program and update your tvOS to 11.3.

DO IT NOW!!!

Yes it looks very good, but even the HDR based UHD BD is that much better when inspecting PQ comparably, there is increased details, less artifacts in extremes of dark or bright scenes. Then there is the key obmission of lossless audio, if you have a good sound system you do miss that.

So looking at this only from a typical 4k streaming perspective, yes it’s the best presentation you can view currently until you have access to compatible players that also work with Sony’s DV.

Sony Canada says the update is due any day - DV will be put into the 9 series, 930, 940 and A1E only. No 800 series or 900 is mentioned. U.S. should be at the same time or just before.

Good point. Compression on discs will always be less apparent and of course connectivity always introduces PQ factors but for those of us that are going digital this is the best I’ve seen.

I previously had a Vizio P Series and ATV DV content was noticeably worse compared to what the 930 delivers

Sooo, in the US, we can look forward to getting the update at the same time or before any day?... I'm not sure exactly how excited I should be...

The update was released on Jan 16 in the US, though my TV still won’t download it. I’ve read posts from other people whose TV downloaded it on its own. When I tried asking Sony support when I’d get it, they recommended doing a factory reset, which I’m pretty sure is not the correct answer. I’m hoping to get it soon as I don’t feel like doing it manually.

Edit: just got a new reply

“Please be informed that we are aware of the issue with update over the server and our team is working on stabilizing it. We request you to give us some time to fix this. Meanwhile, we request you to update the firmware through USB method.”

I have experienced the same thing with my x930e. I have my equipment connected to an anthem MRX1120, which has had its DV update, and the DirecTv source is the only one that exhibits the picture flashing. It only started doing this after the DV update to the Sony TV. From what i've read, people have hooked up there Directv receiver directly to the TV and that fixed it. I am going to try the same now, and i'll report back.

Also, i spent an hour or more on the phone with Sony support, and reset the tv twice with two different reps, first rep had me do a soft reset from the menu, then the second tier rep had me do a hard reset. Neither worked, only caused frustration by losing all my logins and settings. I am now in contact with someone from there "tech support warranty" department that has requested video of the problem, which i have sent them. I will update if i hear anything back from them.

Update: I've connected my C61K directly to the TV, and have watched about 4 hours of programming error/flash free. If your experiencing this issue, i would suggest you try the same, until Sony or Directv are able to fix with a software update.
