He's got a point though. The box cutter slash is extremely common and the first thing I check for when buying in person. Unfortunately I still have a number of copies in my collection that were bought online and arrived with the spine cut. Very annoying.

I grew up in a retail family and I've seen classic retail techniques and traditions fall by the wayside over the years.

It's actually NOT a stupid employee who doesn't give a sh!t but a manager who just flat out doesn't know any better.

If you hold a box cutter at a 45 degree angle and guide it with your thumb, you will make a perfect cut the first time every time and the product will be intact. People don't teach these simple cost saving techniques anymore, because they don't HAVE to know....because they don't OWN anything anymore.

When you work at (let's say) Wallmart, you work under a manager who was hired by a human resources "expert" who has a degree in event planning.

Sam Waltman's kids don't even know who you are, so there is no reason to care.

Don't even get me started on Sam Waltman....

First of all it's Sam WALTON, not Waltman. But I agree. Also on the subject of why there is security cases in addition to the security tags, camera's and security guys in the store, simple answer. They don't always work. The security tags set off the door alarm right? But smart thieves have gotten to slicing the package open with a razor just enough to slip the disc out and pocket it. Thieves don't care about collecting or whatever, they just want a free movie, cd or game. That is why the new cases are in place. As for camera's and security personnel, they are not always there. At Wal Mart (in my experience) there is almost usually no one watching the camera's, or they only have one Security guy who has to roam the aisles to watch for thieves and catch them, leaving the camera's unwatched.

Back on topic though. Is there anywhere anyone knows of that sells SINGLE cases? I don't mean just one disc in a case but a single case as all I need to replace is just one movie case (so far).

Yay i received my BD cases from Casetopia today. I ordered 10 Viva elite 3-discs (for Dexter) and 1 Vortex 6 discs (for LOST season 3). They are the exact same cases as what we get when we buy a BD.

Very satisfied with this seller

As far as I know, the only clear cases available are PS3 clones or look-alikes.

Kind of makes the clear releases like SAW and BS a bit more valuable

This may be an odd question, but I figure I will ask anyway...

Are there any 4-disc Blu-Ray cases that are roughly the same depth as a 1 to 3 disc Elite case? I know that the actual Elite, and the Vortex cases, are wider at the spine, but are there any 'off' brands that might be a bit thinner and still hold 4 discs?

I measured a 1-disc case, and came up with a count of 3200 x 1700 pixels, with a 170-pixel spine.

I was wondering the same thing.... A case that holds 4 discs but has the thickness of a regular BD case.

This seller apparently has generic clear (12mm) blu-ray cases without a BD logo on them.

EDIT: there are several third-party sellers on Amazon:

I need to replace 10 eco cases single and 3 double so i thought this would be good.

http://cgi.ebay.com/20-VIVA-ELITE-Bl...item4aa11d51e3.

The shipping is really expensive though. Does anyone know of a better deal on shipping? Are these legit cases btw?

The shipping is indeed expensive, but to my knowledge, most places that sell actual Vortex and Elite cases have fairly high shipping costs. I would recommend buying in bulk. That way the shipping doesn't seem so bad and you would be set for a while. From what I have read from people on here, Casetopia sells legit cases.

Nothing cheaper but if you think you may replace quite a few cases in the future for ~$5 more you can get 25 of each case.

The only time I had this problem with a Blu-Ray title was for "Race to Witch Mountain". My copy of it came in a slightly-wider 3-disc case than normal, so the artwork was rather snug when I switched cases. It wasn't too much of a hassle, though.
