Here are pics of the unboxing of my Viva Elites from megadiscstore.com here in Canada. This is the second time I have ordered from them and I will probably be buying more in the future.

Well packaged.

Everything was very well packaged and in great shap upon arrival!

I doubt they will, but hey, the Vortex eco cases are WAY better than the Viva Elite eco cases. The plastic is just a bit thinner in the Vortex ones where the Elites has actual holes in them which can cause artwork to more easily damaged.

I plan on replacing all of my eco Elites until I can no longer buy regular Elites to replace them with.

Here's a question...

I know that the Elite cases that most Blu-Ray movies come in now are usually eco cases for 1 or 2 disc sets, however, I have yet to see any movie come in a 3-disc Elite eco case (thankfully), and I have quite a few movies in 3-disc cases with how many come in combo packs these days.

Am I correct in assuming that they have not made eco 3-disc Elite cases, and don't plan to (since 3 disc sets tend to weigh more and they might need a sturdier case)? If I am right, then that's the ultimate loophole for this problem when and if empty non-eco 1 and 2 disc cases ever end up not being available...

While it stinks that the 3 disc cases tend to cost more, they can easily be used as a 1 disc case by simply removing the 'flap' that holds the extra discs. The only real difference between that and a normal, non-eco case would be the little clips that hold the flap, and IMO they aren't really that big of a deal (it's still MUCH better than having holes in the sides of the case).

They aren't completely bad for a 2-disc case either, really, if you don't mind the extra, empty hub. I would just put one disc on the inner part of the case, and then one on the 'front' side of the flap, leaving the back of the flap empty, and it wouldn't be that much different than a 2-disc DVD case with the flap in it. In some ways I feel this is almost better than most standard 2-disc sets that just put one disc on either side of the case, but also include some kind of booklet that ends up covering up the second disc.

Unfortunately the same can't be said for Vortex since their 3-disc cases are actually wider than their 1 and 2 disc cases. And while I agree that the Vortex Eco cases aren't as bad as the Elites since they don't have holes cut into them, they are still much more flimsy than I would like.

Hey, I saw these 15mm 6-disc Blu cases at BlankMedia.ca. Has anyone used them, and if so, are they worth the price?

Default Vortex Cases are Better

In my opinion the Vortex cases are much better than the Elite cases. I have had 6/38 of the Elite cases come with a piece chipped off, the disc holder broken or a crack. That's a 15.8% failure rate, whereas all 6 of the movies that came with Vortex cases were completely fine, and only one of them broke, due to my own error (one of the hinges snapped on a tray after I dropped it). My only issue with the Vortex cases WAS that they had that stupid security spine cover, but I found out today, thanks to this thread, that the security spine cover can be folded inside and snapped in place, eliminating that problem. My other issue with the Elite cases is that I have a feeling the Blu-ray logo at the top could easily be scratched off, whereas the Vortex cases actually have the logo stamped into the case. The Elite cases feel flimsier, especially the eco-cases where they actually put holes in the case behind the artwork, making the artwork more easily damageable, and the case less sturdy. I highly suggest getting the Vortex cases.

I need like 5-10 viva elita 3-discs cases. I've ordered from discmakers.com in the past, and was happy to receive legit blu ray cases. But they only sell by batch of 25 and i don't need that much cases.

So can you guys give me your opinion on these ebay sellers :
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

Both sellers (casetopia and BluHeaven media) claim that their cases are ''official viva elite cases'', but i don't know if they really are.... On the picture, they do look to be 100% the real thing (in fact casetopia use the exact same picture as on the discmakers.com website).

Have you guys any experience with these sellers ? Are they trustable, or do you think i'll end up with fake/generic blu ray cases ?

I have ordered from BluHeaven and their cases are legit. I have read other people on here have bought from Casetopia and seemed to be pleased with them as well.

So how do you fit UK art in those slim cases? I guess you could cut pieces off but how about the spine art? I'd like to get rid of my thick UK cases..

Default 4-Disc cases

I own both the Die Hard and the Rambo 4-disc collections.

Amazon sent me a messed up case with the Rambo set. It has the elite case 4-disc with only the 2 back-to-back inserts that hinge. The Die Hard seems to be the vortex one with a single hinging double sided case and two of the others on the faces.

Vortex was easy to find until:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

4-disc Viva! Now I can finally replace it.

Amazon makes a habit of shipping me messed up cases in their Blu-Ray shipments. I've already replaced 20 of them, and from Casetopia through eBay. As far as I can tell, his cases both Viva and Vortex of 1-2disc sizes are legit. However, none of the Viva cases shipped have the "recycled" design which lacks plastic (which I hated anyway).

I should have made an initial larger order as he combines shipping, along with some multi packs. Time to make another...

Also which cases come with SCANAVO? I noticed my pan's labyrinth blu-ray movie has a slightly different case (like a deeper blue color), though mostly of VIVA elite design. Is that a SCANAVO?
Update: NM, the ELITE logo is right there on the case.

Surprisingly some of the time it fits and the spine art is fine without cutting. Other times, I cut the edges off of the artwork -- I bought an inexpensive paper cutter at Wal-Mart and it cuts it cleanly. The paper cutter turned out to be quite a good purchase because we use it on photos as well.

I hate those Amaray cases (the UK cases) as they are too thick, so vutting the cover art is a trade that I'm willing to make.

I just tried with a few UK covers and they fit like a glove. No need for cutting at all. Does anyone here know where to purchase 1 disc and 2 disc elite cases in UK? What would be the cheapest one that ships to Finland also?

Been noticing alot of careless employees lately at wal-mart and target these people are stupid and do not deserve their jobs! For weeks now I have gone into both these stores looking for the best case and slipcover I can find and every week I go there the spine of the insert has a slit right through it from where an idiot employee cuts open the box slashing through the movie as well! Are you that stupid that you can't learn from the first time?!? Also the racks they use are horrible crushing movies before the customer even gets it in thier hands! Don't even get me started on these ridiculous plastic security cases! One employee was actually standing on these things to get it to latch closed destroying the case!!! You stores have security people, security cameras, security stickers inside the movie and now we need to throw it in a security case as well?! F*** YOU!!! How can the customer tell the condition of the product they are purchasing?!? That's like buying a car and the seller saying sorry you can only see what it looks like inside from the window!

Hehe, that seller TOTALLY owes me a discount now

Either way, thanks for spotting the Groupon eBay discount for me. I've been down and out with a sinus infection all day and would've never caught that, unless I refreshed this page I already had open
