Yeah, I have a copy of the souvenir booklet that was given out on the first day of screening here in Australia of the very first movie. In it, GL talks about the story, how it would be in three trilogies of three movies, and credits Gary Kurtz (if I remember correctly) for the idea of starting with episode four, to propel us into the action. (GL admitted that originally he couldn't see how it would work to do anything other than start with episode one and then do them in order.)

He only described them broadly in that booklet, but the first and second trilogies were going to be roughly the ones we actually got -- the first, about the rise of the Empire and the fall of the Jedi into darkness; the second about the Rebellion against the Empire and the return of one Jedi -- allowing for the fact that story details later changed. The third trilogy, he said, would be the struggle of Luke and Leia's children (!) to re-establish the philosophy of the Jedi as the dominant belief throughout the galaxy. (So, later claims that he had rolled the story of the last three episodes into RotJ just aren't even close to being true.)

The booklet is packed away at the moment. If I get a bit of time, I'll see if I can dig it out and type out the relevant section.

The subs actually are burned in, they just use the angle feature to show the alternate languages. Pretty cool way of avoiding player-generated subs.

Actually, i'm mistaken! The English language version uses a subtitle font for the alien languages that matches the original theatrical release, rather than the standard font used for the HoH subs. They look burned in, but they're actually not!

Some kind of a review:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/51146

Quote:
The first disc I checked out was the first in the set THE PHANTOM MENACE. I watched the first hour and have to say 'wow' when it comes to the transfer. The level of detail took me aback, particularly the costumes (check out the first time you see Queen Amidala, the detail on her golden headress is quite phenomenal on this blu ray). If you've got a surround sound system then suffice to say the audio is superb too. I noticed a couple of changes. Firstly the shot in which the Droid army first enters Naboo always used to look 'sun bleached' this has now been color corrected. And secondly CG Yoda. This has been well publicised and I can confirm that it's been implemented very professionally. Yoda now 'acts' along with his dialogue and gives Samuel L Jackson some looks, etc that weren't there in the puppet version.
We also get Harry's thought about George Lucas before the review.

But there's no one in this thread (let alone "you all") who isn't well aware of what they're buying when they plunk down their $79.99 for this set.
Just ignore him he is thread crapping.

Lol, I only knew they werent because I inadvertedly turned off the jabba/Greedo subs when flicking through the languages, and then started a rumour that they had been removed.

Default Star Wars - Sony BDP-S300 trouble

Hello all! I am new to this and really need your help. I just got star wars last night on blu ray region b and attampted to watch Disk II of the extras. Its the deleted scene one. When I went to the deleted scenes, my Sony BDP-S300 Machine just hung there, did nothing! ahhh, I screamed! I checked the latested firmware updates and updated from 5.50 to 5.70. It still makes no differance. Went to the store and bought another complete box set of star wars and the same thing happenes as well. Could someone out there please help me as I am a huge fan and very disappointed. Thanks in advance. Anthony

You also said this had borders around it (I couldn't find that comment to quote). I am wondering what the size/aspect ratio is of the cartoon on BD. Is it 1.33:1, 1.85:1 or something else? How are the transitions where the commercial breaks were previously? Are they fades or hard cuts?

Thanks for checking.

Does anyone have the U.S. BD yet or a link to an un-boxing clip?

Have you tried all of the other discs yet? Is this the only one that won't play? Maybe try clicking the enter/ok button after a minute.

Well, golly gee.

There were like a dozen people that took issue with Pachi72's trollish post, including me. But thanks for removing the Pachi72 quote that bboisvert was protesting... and then splicing my quote in its place, making it look like bboisvert was referring to my post.

I finally just saw a TV commercial for the set on ESPN during the halftime of a college football game.

It's getting closer.

My take is that MOST will bequite satisfied with this set for the asking release date price.

A price drop down the road isn't going to change the quality obviously but if you have waited for this long now (some more patiently than others obviously) and can wait a bit longer then I can understand that. I cannot and I will be watching on release day, to hell with work!

All in all I think I would be really really surprised if opinions on the quality more lean to the DARK SIDE rather than the FORCE BEING WITH US!

I was thinking that my Complete Saga set would've shown up yesterday, but no!

The person whose shop I pre-ordered it through theorized that Fox is holding on to the sets until the absolute last minute before sending them to stores and critics. As part of an effort by Fox to try to prevent people (members of the public AND critics) from getting their set early.

I think that if that theory is true that Fox is doing so to build anticipation (AKA hype) to a fever pitch by release day so that more of these sets sell than otherwise would and thusly break the existing sales record(s).

What do you think?

Soooo you think they're not wanting their product to leak before release date so they can build hype?

I don't get it. It's just measures to prevent it from leaking.
