Yes. We may have actually cared. I enjoyed the films but I was over the whole 'turn to the Darkside' by the time it happened. That's what happens when you populate you film with characters you don't care about.

It's sad now that we begin to care about the Jedi's etc through another medium i.e. The Clone Wars TV series.

We really needed a character to have some empathy with the audience in the prequels. Anakin would have been the perfect choice (the Han Solo) growing up far away from the Republic and the Jedi Order he should have been the first one to say "I don't get any of this shit.... I'd take a blaster any day, over your flashy sticks...."

Default Admit it.

ROTS was the best of the PT.

Lucas probably knew what he wanted ever since ROTJ.That is why it turned out better than the first two.

Bluyoda: The PT isn't being "trashed". It's being discussed. I love Star Wars and have defended Lucas on boards across the internets, but I'm not blind to the faults of any of the films.

I don't know... we were talking about the Frames book a few days ago and I thought it would be interesting for guys to post their favourite frame of the Saga.

Here's mine. I just love the sci-fi-yness of the shot when Luke comes through the tube and the lights come on. It just inspires my imagination. They even made a print of a few seconds later but I prefer it when Luke just enters. It's amazing what you can do with a bit of corrugated steel.

But see thats my point. There is nothing to like about him. (Although I find him quite good looking in ROTS.) In the first one he's just a kid so nobody really cares, and in the 2nd one we don't get to see any of his training all we get is him *****ing about Obi Wan and a nonsensical love story with Padme.

Well, sure. But Luke's a whiny little ***** in Star Wars (despite what anyone's rose-tinted specs tell them) so it could be argued that Lucas characterised Anakin in the same style. The difference is that the swagger of Han Solo and the spunk of Princess Leia made the whole combo work. Anakin has got no-one like them to play off of, and coupled with Christensen's bland acting it means that as a character he's dull dull dull.

There simply has to be a Han Solo type to make these movies work, so why not have it be Anakin? He even gets to say "this is where the fun begins" in Sith, perhaps as a late acknowledgement by Lucas that the PT could've done with some Han-style charm.

I do understand why many people would like Han Solo, but I personally never cared for him. He just isn't important to me.

Anakin and Luke. That's where my interest is. I like different.
I can really identify with Anakin, even more than Luke.
I do see why some people can't though.

Han Solo has zero spirituality, and therefore has zero value for me.

Anakin has tons of questions on his mind.
He is torn, and lusts for salvation, peace of mind.
He wants to be in control, but at the same time ....

Just so much more interesting IMHO.

Well, in my opinion, Lucas needs to make the following changes to the OT...

1) Fix the lightsaber colors from the 2004 releases. This is especially evident in both ANH and ROTJ (less so in ESB). Instead of a white core with a colored glow, the saber looks shaded, resulting in a bizarre "blended" appearance. Luke's in ANH keeps switching colors on the Falcon scene (from green, to white, then to blue), and both his and Vader's in ROTJ are terrible. Luke's looks like a crushed lime-green, and Vader's often looks pink!

2) Either have Han shoot first in ANH with Greedo, or make the shift of Han's position a lot more convincing, 'cause it just ain't...period.

3) Include Luke's first run at the Death Star trench in ANH, or edit Biggs' line that says, "They're coming in much faster this time".

4) Keep Obi-Wan's ghost form consistent in ESB and ROTJ. In the former, he shows up on Hoth as a blue ghost, and then on Dagobah he's in full color with a white glow around him. The same thing happens in ROTJ.

5) Make the Emperor's lightning in ROTJ match closer with his attack on Mace in ROTS.

Why edit Biggs' line? It's referring to the trench run by Red Leader in the final film.

As for Obi-Wan's ghost, I don't see the need to tweak that. A lot of the blue color is due to the frozen surroundings.

I don't see the need to alter the Emperor's force lightning either. Sounds more like nitpickery than a real issue.

Take all the muppets out, the stop motion crap, and take the Hasbro quality toy/props out of ESB for starters. Replace with some high quality CG, done!

That post is not gonna stir up the masses at all. That being said, the cost alone for all that would be prohibitive, and I doubt there are enough clean background plates to do all that. I, myself, would rather Lucas put that money into a whole new trilogy. I am willing to give him another chance, because I miss the hype and excitement of a new Star Wars movie. There is nothing like it. I want to relive my childhood. Damnit, George, give me a new trilogy!!! Lol

I just have a hunch that Lucas isn't going to do much to the Original Trilogy in this box set. It wouldn't shock me one bit to find out that the Prequels were the ones that got the most work done in this box set.

Thats the same way I feel... Luke and Anakin are clearly the point of interest for me in the movies. Thatīs easy because the saga is ultimately about Anakin. His journey is the main and most interesting. (much like Frodo in the LotR books)

I donīt know why so many people want to see a copy of Han Solo in the Prequels... heīs a funny character but his place is taken by Obi Wan Kenobi.

So when are we going to see some news on the blu-ray set?
I can see Lucas has become a little hesitant with any announcement over the years īcause no matter what, the bashing will start.

What are the chances we are going to see some Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) scenes cut into A New Hope? I think it would really spice up the movie and give it more depth. After all Leia is on her way to Alderaan and they are waiting for her and Obi Wan Kenobi. The Empire now knows Alderaan is cahoots with the rebels and so on ... the new scenes would be cut into the spots were the original Luke entrance would have been. Imo the cutting has grown a bit unusual for a Star Wars film in the first half on A New Hope compared to the others ...

Although I've ordered the complete set, I'm hoping there will be a deluxe set of some kind; plenty of other films have a limited edition so why not the greatest saga of them all?

Surely an R2D2 "box" has been considered? Lights and sounds and an opening at the back to remove a box containing the discs.

Or a Vader bust with a lift off helmet revealing the boxset inside?

So many possibilities, I can't believe there won't be something special put together!!

Absolutely.

Han Solo, funny? Only in ANH if you ask me.

I guess I know why he is liked by so many "fans", because he has the same "can't do" attitude. Constant complaining about everything.

Yeah, the possibilities are endless, and I would definitely get one myself.
I really hope a LE set will be available from the get go, and not after we have purchased the regular Saga edition.

The Vader idea sounds very appealing indeed!

Why not a Death Star boxset? A cool light up globe that seperates that houses the discs.
