If we were talking about the cores then surely we would have been saying that the some of the cores are now white instead of red because there were no pink cores in the close up picture i posted of vader on the gantry in ESB. Clear now?

well back on topic now, i wonder if we will be seeing more snippets from the blu-rays between now and September 12th?
Yeah right.

It is time to revise your thinking :

The core of Vader's lightsaber was pink/white with a semi/mild-red glow in the original 77' and 81' versions.

It was manipulated to look more redish in 1997 and then ILM reverted back to the original pinkish/white core for the 2004 DVD.

And if you dare question the flannel god you are a HATER.

The defenders of these absurd changes are either studio plants or just naive.

And only one person (Breather) has followed up on writing e-mails to Lucasfilm. Everyone read that phony email from kenkraly (sp?) and somehow concluded from one hazy marketing line that the discs would be amazing and all color issues would be corrected. Now there is ample proof to suggest the opposite, but there's no reasoning with these die-hard Lucasbots. Nobody else has reported receiving a response from LFL.

Enjoy spending your money on substandard products, only to be lured in again and again for something better and upgraded. Don't complain when another blu-ray set comes out in a year or two and you "have" to upgrade.

I don't have any facts to back it up, but I am getting a better and better gut feeling about the quality of this release. I can't wait to watch it.

In fact I've been building it up so much I think I will actually watch the Prequel Trilogy first, so I can end on the Original and have the sweeping orchestral theme that leads right to the credits/Star Wars theme put a lump in my throat.

I've been trying to force myself to think positively about the PT and I hope I work enough voodoo on myself that I will like it this time around, maybe finally let it off the hook and just take it for what it is.

Plus several years have gone by since I watched them, it may be long enough that I can enjoy them since I won't be comparing them to my lofty expectations and imagination.

Where is "proof"? Has anyone screen captured a blu-ray disc yet? Trailers may be evidence, but they do not constitute proof.

Most people who are going to buy these Blu-ray are not the ones complaining, they seem pretty happy to get them. Most of the complaining seem to be coming from people who won't be buying them. So why would they complaint if a new edition come's out in a few years? I think it's pretty clear who will be doing the complaining for the next release as well

Ok, seriously! This is getting really old. If you were my kids I would make you both hold hands until you stopped bickering. Move past this and discuss something else. Obviously, you're not changing each other opinions. So there's no point to continue to try.

If you are going to continue it, consider "IM" each other instead of airing your laundry out here.

Glad to see the lightsabers have been touched up. Disappointed to see that Vader is rocking a pink saber more so than ever. Are some people actually trying to say that Vader's saber was always meant to be pink? Vader's saber is red. Always, has been, and was always meant to be.

I'm not talking about this release, I'm talking about the next one. Of course you guys who are buying this set unconditionally aren't complaining now - you have to rationalize spending your money and can't allow any doubt to creep into your head. Next year you'll ask, "Why are they releasing it again LOL I just bought it!?"

The detractors such as myself aren't complaining - we're pointing out very obvious faults and errors that would raise eyebrows for most major releases but go tolerated on Star Wars because the fanbase "must have it on blu-ray." You call it complaining because you are too engrossed in the concept of SW on blu-ray that you don't think rationally or logically.

Just like Cowboy said, you guys have four steps of defense against the facts when it comes to Star Wars.

1. "It's Star Wars, we should just be happy."
2. "They're George's movies, he can do whatever he wants."
3. "You guys are haters."
4. "Don't like it? Don't buy it."

Don't worry, I won't be buying it, but I'm just hoping that anyone who does buy this knows what's under the cover.

At least the saber core is white (in some scenes it does and it some it doesn't ... *sigh*) in the Blu Ray trailer, which alleviates the problem somewhat (better to look at a white core with pink edge than a full pink blade).

Quite surprised that Hoth seemed to be white, didn't expect that.

Also curious that Jeremy Bulloch was at the Blu Ray panel, as his lines have been dubbed over by Morrison(though he has a small role as pilot of the Tantive IV in Episode 3, when they go back to Coruscant).

Oh well it does look better (for the little snippets we saw of course) than what though it would be, so that's a relief.

Jason Wingreen did the OT voice, so I don't think Jeremy would be bothered. Either way, it's a different dude's voice and not his. His body and movements are still the same.

I hate seeing how jaded Star Wars makes people. Mainly because it's brought me so much joy (was 12 when Phantom Menace was released and loved it) over the years. Anyway, I am so ready for this set to be released! The more videos I see, the more excited I get. Reminds me of why I loved Star Wars in the first place!!

Correct. Jeremy Bulloch was the actor who played Boba Fett

When you add blue to red it shifts magenta, when you add green, red shifts orange. What people are complaining about is a red lightsaber looking magentaish. which is an easy thing to do by turning your TV hue/tint control towards one side.

Also color negatives, internegatives, interpositives and prints as they age and fade turn magenta.

Btw Technicolor prints are made from dyes imbibed from 3-color separation matrixes made by separating the negative into 3-Bw records with RGB filters. Technicolor dyes basically don't fade but prints can still have color errors and shifts when made too.
Bingo! Vader's saber looks "pink" or "magenta" sometimes because the color correction shifted the hue more in the blueish direction.
I don't really prefer his saber to be this color, I would rather have them make it red again, but I'm not bothered by it nearly as much as some people are.

Because they have no backbone or ability to think rationally?

Your argument is invalid. You say, well why would they complain? I already said SW diehards don't complain because they are blind to the faults or they are submissive to them because they must have SW on blu-ray at all costs because it's so important to them. Ironically, you demonstrated my point multiple times and have shown that lack of logical argument that Lucasbots have. It's that simple - even you can understand it.

You guys block out the facts to rationalize your unwavering love for SW. It's honestly like debating with a five year old who can't even process certain concepts or accept any truths outside of the ones they hold so closely.
