I can't view the video now, but if the subtitles are in the black bars, that's how it was on the DVD.

Are you sure about that? I don't think so. Not Region 1 anyways...

If this is the list of full special features (and it does tie in with the menu previews on youtube) then there's something I don't get...

If someone who doesn't own the PT DVD's bought this set then there is not a single full length documentary on the making of any of the PT films for them to watch. Just 30 mins of interviews and a collection of turnarounds!

It's like Lucasfilm is saying if you want to know how the PT was made then tough s**t you should have bought the DVD's! Which incidentally have gone up in price from third party sellers and are not in stock cheaply with online retailers either!

I don't get it at all that none of the docs on the disk 9 relate to the PT!

The region 1 DVD's all had the subtitles in the lower black bar. On a widescreen TV they would appear half on the black bar and half on the film.

I seriously don't get all the complaints about the lack of old content!

If they were to include everything from the prequel bonus discs, plus everything from the 2004 OT bonus disc, how much new content would that leave room for? None? Probably not, but less than we're getting now.

Instead of looking online, try brick & mortar stores!, I have seen the Star Wars DVDs cheap in tons of used DVD and book stores around me. Just picked up TPM widescreen for $8! I didn't end up getting AOTC or ROTS at the time, but they were the same price. $24 for the prequel trilogy on DVD, thats pretty cheap!

HAS to be? LIKELY to be sure, it does not have to be anything.

Also look on Kijiji. People are selling all kinds of stuff on there, you might be surprised.

The one MAJOR thing I really want to know is: Will there be a THX Optimizer on any of the disks?
Also, I do not understand the "Crushed Blacks" that everyone keeps talking about. Can someone please explain?

You act as if they couldn't add another bluray of special features. Look at the Alien Anthology set. It has all the special features released on older releases, and plenty of new features. Compared to the Alien set the special features on this star wars release are weak.

it means the black levels are increased to far inorder to create a greater contrast but when it is done too far detail is lost on the shades of black in the image

Here is an example. Its when the black levels are so dark it takes picture information out of the image.

I wonder if there will be a deleted scene from Revenge that might explain why Obi-Wan has Anakin,s lightsaber when filmed from below and his lightsaber when filmed from above. I am referring to the scene when Anakin is choking Obi-Wan on the table.

Yea I hope that is beginning of that scene is on the deleted scenes section of the PT for the blu-rays. GL said in the commentary track for ROTS (which will be on the blu-ray) that obi-wan got hold of both of the lightsabers when Anakin is choking Obi-Wan on the table and that's why obi-wan is holding Anakin's lightsaber in the beginning of that scene.

From the footage and images we've seen:
  1. Black-crush seems to be fixed.
  2. Blue tint in Empire removed.
  3. Some lightsaber colors has been corrected (i.e. crossed sabers in front of the Emperor in Jedi).
  4. New audio mix (redone in 2007), music is back up in the X-Wing scene in A New Hope.
  5. New transfer for Menace, no more EE & pink tint.

Anything else I missed?

I'm expecting more fixes done, all we have to do is wait. Don't know about you guys but I'm more excited about Star Wars now than ever!

EDIT: This is post no. 19888 of this thread.
