if you don't already have several of the titles then the box set is a must have. The only reason I didn't go for it was that I had several of the titles I liked, and a more obsessive collector friend offered to pass on his copies of titles I didn't have.

So, a lot of what I wanted to order is out of stock. No Apu Trilogy, no Elevator to the Gallows (watched it on DVD), The Big City I did not see anywhere, Jacques Demy (seen a few) is out of stock, Jacques Tati (seen most of his work) is not available on Blu-ray, The Lady Vanishes is out of stock and no Marketa Lazarova. Ended up ordering...

Bruce Lee
Eight Hours Don't Make a Day
Jetee (Seen in on DVD)/Sans Soleil
Army of Shadows
Brief ENcounter (Seen in on DVD)
Cranes Are Flying

The extras alone are worth it. Throw in the OAR instead of the cropped WB version, and it's a must-have.

Wanted to order Do the Right Thing, but I'm kind of expecting Spike Lee's biggest movie to get a UHD release. For now I'll stick with the older Blu-ray.

No. Criterion has its own 24-hour 50% Flash Sales twice each year, in Feb/March, and October.

Someone already answered you, but I'd like to stress the yes. It's very worth it. The correct aspect ratio and the uptick in detail from the restoration are incredibly noticeable, and the extras are so plentiful the set comes on two discs. The making of featurettes are fascinating, and the booklet is incredibly informative. The article about the cinematography is worth the extra bucks alone.

Others have already mentioned the correct aspect ratio, but there’s also the original mono audio.

Yes it is, especially if it's one of your favourite films of the 70's, or one of your favourites in general.

Got exactly what I wanted:
Great Escape
Lady Eve
War of the Worlds
Wanted to do it for a few bucks less with Target's B2G1F but they didn't allow Lady Eve. Thought I was gonna gets screwed again a few days ago when War was OOS but that came in...

So, fearing a Twilight Time / Christine scenario, I put all three in my wishlist and verified my payment method yesterday afternoon. About 1:00 am I remembered, so I left the dog in the yard and ran in, click click click and now I'm all

I personally would not as I'd imagine it may appear on 4K at some stage.

There's not much reason to believe that it would.

Thanks for that heads up. I didn't bother to check my local store, but just did...and they definitely close earlier than normal. Almost too close to call if I will get there in time after work, so I decided to do an in store pick up order in case the titles I want are in limited supply. Hopefully I will get there in time to do a little shelf browsing, but I wanted to make sure I got these if not:

Also call the phone # of your location.

Some locations offer the 1st hour of shopping to those with health issues and the elderly to help avoid getting Covid19

I just noticed a few titles temporarily out of stock online, anyone know how frequently Barnes & Noble restocks Criterions?

B&N doesn't not have the appropriate Criterion stock in their stores nor warehouses... nor enough staff needed to ship the demand that will be requested.

So maybe Amazon (which I highly doubt) or Bestbuy might step up and do a Criterion sale... but I highly doubt that too cause they are probably in the same predicament.

Remember, thay all fired most of their staff months ago. That's why everyone is on unemployment now. Do you guys not read the news?

In the meantime... keep wasting your time dreaming about a sale that ain't gonna happen.
Someone has been awfully quiet of late after having made so much noise about their absolutely not being a Criterion sale at Barnes & Noble this July.

I guess it is obvious now who wasted their time here.
