I was going to buy the Europe Trilogy but was shocked that it was OOP. That was very fast as it was released just 2 years ago.

Performance
Mother and the Wh-re
King Lear
Last Picture Show

Criterion’s been releasing a lot of pedestrian stuff lately (maybe that’s always been their game and I’m just jaded now) but the first three of those were some of their most interesting selections in a long while I thought

How long does it usually take them to process an order? I bought enough for that $50 gift card to place on a second order

Yeah, I wish Criterion gave a heads-up about it gong OOP. The reason it did is because MUBI acquired it, and the rights to several other Von Trier films:

https://deadline.com/2023/05/mubi-ac...se-1235364411/

It's still available elsewhere like Amazon, but not at 50%:

https://www.amazon.com/Lars-von-Trie...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Breaking the Waves is also OOP. Not sure if the same will happen soon to Antichrist as well, which is another on the MUBI list.

With the Criterion site being so painful slow at the start of the sale, I accidentally added 2 copies of Drugstore Cowboy to my cart. I didn’t catch it until after I checked out. As I paid using mostly gift cards, my question is if I cancel the order how quickly with the gift cards reappear in my account?

I also wouldn't be surprised if they're also clearing the path for a big box set for one of those months too.
Don't forget, Criterion (and Janus films) has new ownership as of last May. Good chance that Steve Rales is pumping additional capital into the business in order to ramp up release numbers and thus increase cash flow.

Of course, it takes some time to crank up the output, hire new people to do the work, etc. I'm thinking we're now seeing the fruits of that new capital infusion.

Woo hoo!

3 orders in, 13 titles ordered, $120 worth of gift certificates used and at the last minute I discovered that I had a $20 gc from early 2023 that I hadn’t realized I neglected to use.

These are titles I was really wanting along with a few blind buys for the Letterboxd Criterion Chalenge 2025 that I’m taking part in.

I changed up my cart a million times for this sale :P And I added on My Man Godfrey last minute. Good thing I had 2 $10 off coupons, kinda like buy 5 get 1 free? lol. Convinced that The Breakfast Club will be July's 4k release now that I've purchased it, but I mainly buy blu rays anyways. I waffled on Crossing Delancey in 4k or blu, but ultimately I stuck with blu-ray!

Flash Sale!

Because Pabst made the good uns, and I haven't seen this one in forever.

Because Powell was still great even without Pressburger.

Because this movie hit me in the feels like Tarkovsky did.

Because Harold Lloyd was a treasure.

Because while this may not be my favorite Sturges film (that goes to Hail the Conquering Hero), it's still great and I love it. Sometimes, you just gotta laugh.

Upgraded Princess Bride, Time Bandits and Night Of Living Dead to 4K and bought another copy of After Hours since I can't find the original.

I went pretty big this time, as I usually do most of my spending at B&N. I do wish it were a week later for Night Moves, but I can wait. All are 4Ks, and most are blind buys. I'm upgrading 8 1/2 and Thief.

I remember in past sales they didn’t charge tax, but it’s showing tax now. Was it that way for anyone else before?

It was only the previous sale where most weren't charged tax, but that was a glitch. Taxes were charged before that, though the number of states that were charged have increased over the years.

Quote:
Sales Tax has been expanded and now required for Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin
