Paramount just released Rosemary's Baby on UHD. If they aren't worried then Criterion shouldn't be either.

Thanks for that clue! I don’t think Sherlock Holmes could have located that damage without your pointer.

If that’s worth stressing over a replacement, then someone get me in a straight jacket cuz I have plenty of specks like that on my collection that only the scientists from FANTASTIC VOYAGE could find and fix.

Actually it's the whole small strip above the spine that is dented/scored, and both sides are torn. When mail-ordered, I (just about) always return those (the whole thing, unopened) depending on how severe it is, and try later or just wait and pick up a good one at b&n. It happens a lot (just look at what's on the shelf at any b&n), and by a lot, it's not just at the top, but could also happen at the bottom, and either way it can also be a lot worse.

I just got a few like that from Kino, fwiw. It's more unusual for them, but seems to be happening with them a bit more often now too. Luck of the draw.

Worth the bother to me.

Raging Bull
The Power of the Dog
Moonage Daydream
The Trial
Thelma & Louise
Dazed and Confused

Walkabout
Lost Highway
Time Bandits
Wings of Desire
The Rules of the Game
Okja
I've been massively stretched as well, I haven't bought anything for a couple of months and I didn't even know some of your wishlist were even out/coming out.
If can find some coppers down the back of the sofa, then I'll pick a couple from these:

Mayerling (had no idea this had come out)
The Duras
The Zetterling
The Haneke
The Wildeberg

Upon reflection, I'm having expensive tastes here, so might have to settle for one, though I do seem to have a few vouchers on my account.

I'm irrationally tempted by the Ranown box, despite the Indicator box being one of my treasured possessions...

Also, The Daytrippers - seems to come and go from the channel and it's never there when I fancy cheering myself up.

If I fancy a completely blind buy I might punt for Chilly Scenes of Winter due to the exceptional title and cover art!

If they can hold off on the flash sale to the 31st, that would be great.

House sale dance will be over, and I'll be able to actually partake.

If before? Oh well. I'll wait until February.

Do preorders go on sale during the flash sale? If so, I might get The Others on 4K.

I can not understand people returning Criterion’s based on the cover not being in the case all the way and getting small tears. Once you line it up correctly you can’t even tell it was torn.

Thank you for explaining the issue. Now I see what the poster is complaining about. And I agree, shift it down into place and you could never tell.

I would imagine it is on the radar to be upgraded eventually.

Just saw this on another forum, per a Variety article interviewing Suzanne Lloyd (Harold Lloyd's granddaughter), Girl Shy (1924) is currently in the works for a Criterion release at some point. Original source quoted below:

Quote:
And now, besides having some of her grandfather’s films on HBO Max, Suzanne Lloyd has a deal with the prestige-conferring Criterion Collection and Criterion Channel. That company has four Lloyd films as part of its very select library — including “Safety Last,” naturally, with another, “Girl Shy,” currently in the works for a Criterion edition.
