This video was the highlight of my week.

Willem Dafoe is brilliant. He's a mensch. And he's damn hilarious. I don't know the guy personally, but this is someone I'd want to know in my life just based on his tastes in cinema, his acting style, his choice of acting roles, and what films he chooses (such as in this video).

I love this man and I think he's probably my favorite actor alive today.

Yes, the contradiction comes from my not being a big fan of Google anymore and having to rely on them for much. They are no longer reliable and have been corrupted too many times to be considered verified and cross referenced.

I wasn't asking for Google to provide the blurb, I was asking for Criterion to provide it. And my objection to "instant answers" is a personal thing because I can tell my memory is not as strong as it once was due to the laziness enabled by instant answers. Yes, that does contradict my wanting to know who's in that damn closet. Sorry for the confusion, but I do know my longer posts often get lost in illogical word walls, try as I do to make them cogent. I'm on medication that will sometimes cause me to lose my focus, but that's not an excuse. I know I need to make my posts more clear and much shorter.

Google owns YouTube, so using a Google search can be even more helpful.

The Closet videos already include the info you say you want, but isn't there:
Attachment 299104

I also use the YT app from time to time on Apple TV and I think there's a spot to access the description using your remote.

You say you want these details, which are actually already provided, but then say you prefer not to look them up either. That was confusing too.
As I just posted above this, but in case you skip it, it all has more to do with my mistrust of Google. As for them owning YouTube, that's the only thing Google is associated with that I support and endorse, but even there they seem more and more determined to undermine what makes it great.

You are right about being able to access the information on the video itself while using the TV app for YT. It took me awhile to figure it out, but it's on there so I'm sorry I gave the impression that there was no way to decipher the info without having to Google it.

Again, my original point was that I found it nice to finally see someone on the closet video that I readily recognized. Another poster here took issue with that statement. Has it really been worth all the discussion since then merely because one person found fault with my somewhat negative comment about Criterion?

Unless if they want to announce a boxset, most likely not. Good chances the announcement will be on Tuesday

So use a different search engine.

Not having to remember trivially-Googleable facts and figures leaves room in your memory for other things.

The closest I can get is “nothing from Japan”. I keep going through titles in my head - Brazil, some Scorsese, and even back to Japan - and then I just say “come on, get real.”

Allegedly Criterion has Captain Blood and Pat Garrett, and it would be nice to see at least one of those this month. Another Scorsese would be nice too.

A guy over on another thread had an even more insane prediction: Looking For Mr. Goodbar. While I do believe we’re almost out of the woods with that one, I’ll still believe it when I see it.

My personal out in left field prediction, and this would be perfect for Criterion, is The Devils. The movie fits their oeuvre, a 4K would be stunning, and it’s one of the greatest films ever. It has a snowball’s chance in hell, but I’d still love to see it happen.

I wish that were true, believe me. All it does is make my memory lazy.

I'm not sure if you remember but years ago I mentioned liking circus films and you turned me on to this...

Despite being a huge Vincent Price fan, some how I had never even heard of it. I swear, I don't think it was EVER on Tv in L.A. in the 60's or 70's. I love it and hope to see it get upgraded someday. When Vincent Price was pegged as the bad guy by all those performers just because he has that evil, sinister aura about him and
[Show spoiler]then sweet and innocent David Nelson turns about to be the homicidal escaped lunatic,
I was hooked!

No. We can speculate, however. Previous history points to a Tuesday in late February/early March. Best we can do right now.

Now that I've bought these Fassbinder films on Blu-ray over the past 30 days, maybe we'll see them in 4K (with updated transfers... yeah right):

ALI: FEAR EATS THE SOUL
THE BITTER TEARS OF PETRA VON KANT
FOX AND HIS FRIENDS
THE MERCHANT OF FOUR SEASONS

EDIT: I also purchased TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME in the last month. I just hope the 4K is the thickness of the original release and LOST HIGHWAY. There should be some uniformity across directors for packaging type and size.
