And it's the first post on the page so it's going to take the longest possible time to bump the thread onto a new one. Phenomenal work.

I noticed that too. I may just find some old post of mine to delete, so it goes back to the previous page.

edit: Done.

Maybe we need to post a bunch of short posts to get this to 11320 ASAP.

I hadn't realized they had so many releases this year, even when you subtract the 9 that are simple repackaging (CC 40, Blue, White, Red, Hearts and Minds, Riot in Cell Block 11, Pickpocket, Tie Me Up Tie Me Down, and La vie de boheme) that is still 89 releases with one more month of announcements to come. (Or, if you want to count the 23 that are new to both UHD and Blu-ray as 1 release instead of 2 releases, gets you 66 with one more month to go.)

I thought it was a decent year. I got some of my major wants with Pat Garrett and Demon Pond, so can't complaint too much, but always want more Japanese titles.

Kinda confused why there was a post with all of the Criterion releases out of the blue, since it's on the OP.

I’m just really excited for what I haven’t pre-ordered yet that being Repo Man, The Long Good Friday, Demon Pond, Pandoras Box, that Val Lewton two film set, Happiness, Paper Moon, Godzilla, and Scarface 1932. As I won’t be buying the Criterion Seven Samurai 4K I pre-ordered the BFI set, because that cover with that iconic Toshiro Mifune image is just great.

Has anyone not been receiving Criterion emails lately?

I haven't been getting their newsletters for almost a month now. I never unsubscribed from them. I even resubscribed in an effort to get them to appear again. But still nothing.

Have you checked your junk mail? I’ve had some emails from sites that I read frequently that just started ending up in my junk mail and I had to start moving them to my inbox.

Is there a world where Criterion releases The Orphanage on 4K?

I've been thinking about the upcoming Criterion Collection/Criterion Closet "CC40" box-set. The more I think about it, it does seem like a set well suited for new collectors for the Criterion Collection. I am considering selling off a portion of my titles to try and help make a purchase of it easier to justify because it does seem like a rather nice box-set.

I could see it being a good gateway box-set into some of the other Criterion releases, too - for example, one Bergman title might inspire someone to pick up the Ingmar Bergman's Cinema box set. Same with Fellini and the Essential Fellini set. Same with Varda and the Complete Films box-set. Same with Wong Kar Wai and his box-set. Same with Cassavetes and his box-set. There are some other good examples, too.

Likewise, the small number of titles on 4K UHD as well, someone could watch the Blu-ray in the set and then later upgrade to 4K and be inspired to double-dip for the 4K edition.

Even though I'll have a few duplicates if I purchase the CC40 box-set, I do enjoy the concept of it, because I love the Criterion Closet videos. It's a nice looking set and I personally love the idea of a physical disc for Criterion Closet videos. Would make a rather nice display piece (and add to my Criterion Collection) even if it's a tad less practical for non-beginners.

Yes, that happened to me, and I still don't get the newsletters, but I do get the Criterion Channel emails (and gift card emails), criterion order emails and the one they send out that rounds up recent essays for the site.

For years I didn't get the newsletter emails, and then suddenly i did. I don't know what changed. I would try a different email service than whatever you're using and see if they show up there.

I do get the newsletter in my second email, but since they no longer do clues, I never read the newsletter.

Do you remember your very first post in this thread? I still do... like it was yesterday. J/K.

Back on Page 2,831 (November 28, 2012)...

My first post in this really long thread:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=56616

First thing I wrote was "Greetings."

My very first post however took place on November 12, 2012. And what a post it was!

Can you find your first? Anyone else?

I only have 3 titles from Criterion and I'm happy with them but I hate that they make their own cases for their releases cuz if it shows up damaged ya can't replace it yourself. I live in a small town with nobody around me that sells blu rays so I mail order nearly everything. 2 of the 3 Criterions I have I had to return for replacements because of busted up cases. And I get busted up cases pretty commonly with blu rays I order but most of the time I'm able to just replace em myself cuz I got a bunch of spares sitting around but can't do that with Criterion. It would be nice if the employees that have to see that the things are destroyed wouldn't send them when I paid new price but they do it all the time.

They don't make their own plastic cases. They use Scanavo branded cases. You can search various places for replacements. Criterion themselves also sells a 5-pack of replacement cases

Thanks for the info. $3 a little steep for an empty plastic case though. But maybe I could find em a little cheaper somewhere else. Hadn't heard of this Scanavo company before.

So I noticed the three colors trilogy is now available individually! That's great to hear but if that's the case: what's the likelihood of say the Cassavetes films getting that? (Opening Night is unavailable as a single, not even on DVD.

Was there even an announcement for the 3 colors trilogy getting those individual releases?
